  1. Yes & I bet those carrots lasted a lot longer than the ones we have to buy in shops. I suspect ours are frozen to some extent "to keep them fresh" but has the obviously unwanted side effect of not lasting very long?
  2. and ever modest. I thought you were going to tease me along your theory that when someone gets very close i go all quiet. The delay was a delivery of hay, a phone call & then realising I needed to scan the answer. Yes you are right there is often someone who gives a key answer that triggers the final answer for someone else. I've just looked in my book & actually there seem to be no specifications for carrots. As an aside. Perhaps they didn't have tinned carrots in those days. I noticed on the TV Victorian Farm they picked carrots that would last 4 months to see them through the winter. Why is it that most carrots are wet these days? They only last a few days. Looking in the supermarket yesterday I saw one bag of wet carrots came from the USA & next to them some more wet ones from Israel. Ridiculous, so I bought some tins of British carrots that will last me through the winter if need be
  3. Specially for you Bernard! You can go & thicken up your gravy now
  4. Ah well that's what comes of being a gentlemen Bernard:D But your "60 tins" was well deduced.
  5. WOW Richard you is de man with these mystery objects. Yes it is indeed. Very well done!!
  6. Hmm, start your breakfast with a bang? Nope
  7. Bernard that's pretty good, it is indeed "60 tins" but the C is not contents it is the product itself.
  8. Andrew yes they are the specifications for packing cases & indeed for the ASC but not food supply for cattle.
  9. Irwin http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Irwin-5pc-bolt-grips-plus-expansion-set-free-postage-/230642132874?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item35b357a78a
  10. Well if you show me yours, I'll show you mine! I'll get some pics of both of my types & compare with yours. Would be nice to know the difference.
  11. Chris I managed to find some SRL14PC & SRL14P today. They certainly appear identical to each other & no there wasn't an omission of the final C as it was stamped SRL14P- All of these (4 x SRL14PC & 2 x SRL14P) were date stamped. The ones I could read were 1955 & 1960 so I think they must have come from my FV1601.
  12. I suppose that's the only way that people would know that it was happening! Because I've just looked through the programme & the exhibitors pack & I could see no reference to it, I suppose because its not "entertainment"?
  13. Because it is an open-air service?
  14. Often referred to as Common User Binoculars. British 1950-60s ran off just a single 1.5v cell. Does yours have the image converter tubes fitted? There were a lot of them on the surplus market in nice solid green plastic carrying boxes 30 years ago, but generally with the tubes missing. There is a bit of coverage on pages 13 & 14 here: http://www.hmvf.co.uk/pdf/Tabby03.pdf
  15. If its of interest the current Defence Standard is here: http://www.dstan.mod.uk/standards/defstans/80/009/00000300.pdf
  16. I used to see a lot of those frames around 25-30 years ago. But when I wanted one for my Vigilant display a few years later it was a long time before I found any let alone a decent one. Very useful as this man walking out with a prototype Vigilant demonstrates.
  17. The point about "silver"/aluminium paint was that it was classed as fire resisting with a minimum of 20% aluminium.
  18. If you have an emergency service vehicle it is very easy to book in once you have registered. Not been before as I only heard about it by chance. http://www.emergencyservicesshow.com/
  19. Simples Wayne you need to start collecting AESPs not to mention all those other funny books in my signature:D
  20. Chris do you know the significance of those 3 Lodge suffixes?
  21. Paint but not on the parts that move against each other.
  22. Richard it seems you are not going to get any definitive replies, so I'll put my head on the block to try to move things on for you. There seem to be quite a number of these SRL14L plugs around & you can find many references in forums where people seem to have used them successfully in Rovers. However I have never seen a formal statement in any parts books for Rover or Humber that they can or should be fitted. So I don't know for what vehicle they were primarily used. SRL14X was fitted to Rovers 10 & 11 SRL14PC was originally fitted to Humbers as Plug, sparking, No.1 Mk 1 With Lodge plugs I don't know the significance of the suffixes X, PC & L. This afternoon I had a rummage to see if I had a SRL14L, but could only find a SRL14PC To me it looks very likely that it would do. But if I had one in my hand I would compare it with the more usual plugs used before fitting it. But I think certainly at this stage of just getting running at all it would be reasonable try it. If you are in a real quandry & that is the only type advertised, I can sandblast a used RSN13P & post it to you.
