  1. Richard,

These are conversions from the Pulse ambulances. Withams had loads of take off ambulance bodies a while back. I have seen these out and about... even saw one in McDonalds car park near Lincoln a few months back.

  2. I was looking at Witham and this caught may attention, Land Rover Defender WOLF 130, I have not seen a vehicle with this colour scheme.

    Can any one advise why or what the intention was/is, especially the red;

  3. i'm going back down on thursday to move the tank and reassemble it as best i can. we'll be using a giant 4x4 forklift to up end it and get the crap out of it, after which it will be moved nearer to the main building and put together with the parts we have.

i'm looking for volunteers to help with the resto. i'm bringing a gas axe and welder genset and an assortment of large hammers. anyone that knows how to use these precision tools will be most welcome :)

this will be a one day resto

If only I was closer or when down in Southampton

  4. The Halftrack type shown (converted International M5/M9) is the subject of a 'not filled enough' thread here on the forum, see link below. A great photo. Just look at them multi-hued jerrycans and, all those water chilling devices on the side rack! REME Halftracks, with or without jibs (for engine pack/gearbox removal and general 'lifting' purposes are great vehicles and worthy of specialist attention .... no, not me, I have to do my Tripolitania book stuff, though it's worth noting that I cannot find evidence of such a fine type of Halftrack being used in Tripolitania at any time. 5RTR used them in Barce, Cyrenaica 1955-57.

Thanks for the information about the half track,

  5. Surveyor you are lucky to get a response with so much information, I asked the same question relating to the wide track trailers of the previous generation and drew a blank. You are lucky chum

My last line was to a local Army Base and ask but you never know what they would say

  6. The Duckboards are made from approximately 40mm X 20mm tanalised soft wood, the profile is 'D' shaped with the square corners at the bottom and the rounded corners at the top. The lower rails run side to side and the upper rails run front to rear with approximately 125mm square openings. The measurements are approximate as all our trailers are out.

The Duckboards are supplied by Penman MW Ltd, Heath Hall Ind Est, Heathall. Dumfries DG1 3NY. Penmans part number is K8232 the NSN is 2590-99-724-2328, they are quite cheap, the military only pay £54 each!

    I hope that this helps.

Unfortunately Penman went into receivership and had none left, the timber merchant who supplied Penman only had a broken one and at the time I did not have a suitable vehicle to transport it to repair.

I have the trailer manual now after posting the thread and can work out the spacing, but the information you have given means I can start setting out and getting the timber, nice job for fine summer days.

    Thanks

    Richard

  7. After some horrible weather when not trying to bring pennies in managed to get to the Land Rover, had a good look with a straight edge and a feel, pulley's look in line and can find no rough edges, its booked in for an MoT in 2 weeks so when on ramp going to get a better look

  8. we're pulling the tank out on the 23rd (next tuesday) if anyone wants to come and watch. i've enlisted the help of a friends recovery truck and we expect, if all goes to plan to be winching it out in the early afternoon. let's hope there is enough tank left to recover :)

All the best, wish I was in the area,
