  1. we wouldn't go down the road with that or anything similar.

from (our) the recovery operators point of view if it failed(and if it did you can guarantee it will take out a minibus full of kids) what are we going to show the insurance company?

first question they will ask is where is the test certificate/inspection paperwork/loler paperwork.

it wont have any i'm sure.

fine to move it a short distance not for an on the road trip i'm afraid.it also looks fine for securing the trailer to the headboard tow ball, then strapped.

you won't believe the regulations that we should ALL be adhering to in this industry.Every chain/strap/deck/piece of equipment needs a regular inspection, certificate and paper trail.

Thanks I thought this the case, thinking construction wise we would look at evidence that the bolts used are the ones on the certificate, so all individual parts would need serial numbers etc.

Hadn't thought of this till a site needed to lift a sculpture and the lifting details were inadequate.

  2. Hi

    No joy from Cherished....

My broker couldn't find anything as well.

The total length of the vehicle and trailer puts into the 'commercial' recovery world. So starts getting very expensive.

    Might make something like this

    attachment.php?attachmentid=127129&stc=1

Then I can get cheap breakdown recovery

    Suggest people check the smallprint

    Cheers

    Richard

Would this need to have certificates for towing and approval from the insurance company ?

  3. With pleasure. There are a number of battlefield maps available but as this is a contemporary military map I consider that it is most likely to be definitive.

BTW, I just spotted a further clue: a stream crossing the road in exactly the right spot to explain the Bailey bridge in photo 3.

Many thanks, just got around to replying

  4. Thank you for your kind comments.

    1) The IWM caption for Photo 1 refers to the POW's walking along Route 6. Having looked at some battlefield maps, it is clear that this corresponds with the present day Corsa della Repubblica, also known as Via Casalita.

Is it possible to scan the battle field map in so we can compare with photographs etc.

  5. I am looking for a good running complete WW2 Jeep, either original, fully restored or needing a LITTLE work. Happy to wait till end of Summer, if being currently used. I am located in Kent.

There are a couple on EBay now

  6. Well at least your thread has led into all sorts of interesting diversions!

But got to be better than posting & question that nobody wants to answer :D

Clive very true, just wonder where it will lead and as a starting point what about other than the UK?

  7. Just about to start on getting my mast system together, can anyone advise on the correct paint for the mast, there are 2 colours I can see, one appears to be a gloss the majority a matt, would this be NATO matt paint or IFFR paint?

    Thanks in advance

    Richard
