  1. World War 2 Treasure Hunters, starting Monday 9th of October at 21:00 on History Channel. Featuring Rick & Suggs in one of the episodes, the trailer for the series looks like all 8 episodes will be worth watching.

Thanks was wondering about when it was going out

  2. Driving back up the M74 yesterday, the engine clicked for about a mile then 10 miles latter the engine stared braking the Land Rover, thankfully managed to get to the hard shoulder. No crunching sound like a timing belt jumping teeth.

The mechanic came out from Lockerbie and after a bit said the cam shaft was frozen.

Being a mechanical idiot any suggestions on how to try and free it or is it a garage job to strip down the engine.

Also trying to find where the engine number is as I do now it was replaced approximately 10 years ago by the MoD.

    Thanks in advance

  3. I know this is a long shot but any photographs of this Land Rover would be appreciated, to help any one I attach an FOI regarding units

  4. The thing to watch though is that with coax feed coming in, the port hole obviously has to be open to a degree, but if it rains, water gets blown into the orifice & also tracks along the coax to make it wet inside. Not a massive ingress but when I sleep in the back the end of my sleeping bag would soon get soaked.

I have been told that in service the sock is everted when coax is used with a slight dip in the coax externally minimises wetness.

    Clive

Many thanks, that is a bit further down the line, at present only want exterior to look right, internally latter maybe, but so glad to get the thing done,

    Richard

  5. It's to make up for the ones we cant see anymore that people had linked into Photobucket:-(

Sorry, I only had a smart answer, not the one you wanted.

I get it and don't use photobucket, some times when I preview I can delete them but not always

  6. I have found out the numbers of my type of vehicle are fewer than previously loan, i have spoken to my insurance company and they are not sure how to proceed.

Does anyone know of a specialist insurance valurer for military vehicles hopefully in Scotland

  7. I don't know, none of mine are to hand.

You need to watch out as I think it might be imperial with 72mm spacing between holes. In 1970 JSP 181 Part 1 laid down that all MOD technical publications would be in a loose-leaf format unless the sponsor could justify a bound publication. The paper sizes adopted were ISO ‘A’ sizes and punched to accommodate the new range of binders.

Existing publications were to be re-punched to be fit the new binders with 80mm spacing. Some EMERs are pretty ragged being punched for the files with 23 pairs of clasps, then re-punched for 72mm spacing & then again for 80mm spacing.

Just something to bear in mind in your pursuit of binders that all your documents are going to be compatible.

    Clive

Thanks but these are A4, my new 4 hole punch works on them.

    All the best

    Richard

  8. Having started to try and get all the documents in proper looking folders with the names down the spine I have run out of these folders, does any one know the official name and order number and a source?
