Gents
Thanks for this, so if I just spray the trailer and remove these marks it would be more authentic than having the stencils put on.
I do like Clive's comment

Colleagues I would like some help in interpreting thestencils on Penman Trailers, 1 is mine and the others were online at Witham, the stencils appear to differ on all units.
First question is what is the font used for this stencil, anFOI came back advising it would not appear to be a recognised practice.
From Looking at my trailer and Witham’s pictures:
Line 1: 2853-3107
Line 2: MECH
Line3: SERV
Line 4: Tyre
Line 5: PAINT
Line 6: REC
Line 7: KC
Comments;
Line 1: Iassumed this maybe a stock number, they are slightly different on each trailer
Line 2: Notsure, assume it means mechanical
Line 3: Datewhen serviced?
Line 4,5,6,7: Anyhelp on this? Not a clue
Depending on the trailer, lines 2-7 seem to be grouped in2’s and some have dates assume some could refer to servicing not sure re theother dates.
On both trailers, somewhere between Line 5 and 7 there is adate, not sure what this is for? Mine has a date in service 3 months afteraccepted into service, also does not tie up with any date on the MERLIN report.
Also on the others the dates are not in the same place.
Thanks in advance

Found this for spare parts

I have 5 cookers to service 2 MK 2 2 Mk 12 and a Mk 3, thankfully have the MoD manuals for them.
Intend to get the external paint stripped and repainted first, they all seem to have originally been bronze green but sometime resprayed, Mk 3 badly

Last time Withams had one in used it went for £200 plus VAT

Professional curiosity, what's the ground like for digging and stabilisation for the recovery
-
Probably the cables.
I had to change mine (inner and outer) recently as I had a similar problem. Simple enough to change just tape the new on to the old one and pull through.
Thanks, will look at when I get it back from the sprayers, just need to work out where al bits go to and from, will take time as don't want to loose anything, at least I have an electrical pull through if needed

Having sat down and gone through Haynes, Land Rover 110 workshop manual, parts handbook and trawled the web I come to ask those more mechanically minded than me for help.
There are 2 levers at the driver side, one for heat and one for the direction of air flow, no matter what position I put them in they immediately return to the midway position, also they feel stiff.
At the moment I am thinking I may need to remove and sort out the air handling unit as I assume this is where they both lead to.
Has any one experienced this problem and if so is there and easy answer for a man who until recently lifts the bonnet and went "yup its and engine" honest I am getting better looking after this Landie

is it infectious?

i try to farm out as much as i can but it always ends up coming back onto my shoulders anyway so from now on i'll just do my own thing. it's simpler that way.
me and the lads will set off tonight after work and should get to the vineyard sometime after midnight. will do a quick recce and get some kip, then one of us will do the survey while the other two dig the testpit with my mini digger. i hope the tank is not more than 5ft down as that's as far as it will reach ! after that i'll start digging by hand with a spade and a big pole (his name is marek)
All the best, hope you find them

been messed about by an archeology guy from a local uni who offered to help and then after xmas has dropped off the radar and doesn't reply to emails or texts, i don't know if he had a reason but a simple reply would have helped.
anyway i've arranged to hire a proton magnetometer and i'm going down on saturday with my labourers to do the survey and maybe dig a testpit over the covenanter
having worked with academics, they always in my opinion thought they know best, have you copied a request regarding help to the principle, especially as there seems to be TV interest.
Yes I have a nasty mind and have had an Professor trying to brow beat me, he didn't win, his attitude was that only he knew how universities were run, unfortunately for him I used to work for universities and know how to work with them.
Do you have the department head who may also be interested in the sudden lack of response.

the vineyard are commissioning a short documentary on the recover and restoration so don't worry there will be some evidence of my crimes
Make sure you have a Chief Petty Officer Pertwee with you who always had "14 witnesses to say he was in 3 other places when whatever happened happened"

My Daughter bought me an Airfix kit of may land rover and trailer, according to Airfix my trailer can float, yet the trailer gate and bed have holes in it, so not sure how it can float and don't fancy trying the test

Don't forget the left overs! Some scenes were used in the 1969 film 'Mosquito Squadron' which starred amongst others Ducky, from NCIS and Dirty Den from Eastenders
Thank you, as a kid remembered watching a lot of WWII films and started to see same clips in different films, always thought I imagined it

Don't you mean Eurostar and what if the tunnel operators go on strike?

Speaking as a modeller, so primarily interested in taking photographs of interesting vehicles, please do not put your board too close to the vehicle where it might obscure significant detail. Yes I know I could ask you to move it, but you might not be there!

Another good point

Does your friend know what a 37mm gun in a tank is like? You are hardly going to remove it.
As I said his comments, I think he may have had a moment not thinking straight on the calibre, just looking at comments on this thread
-
My Friends comments, his alone;
Comments,
Why does the officer what the vehicle secured if the fire arm can be removed and secured like other fire arms?
Ifits smooth bore it could come under a shot gun certificate and as the barrellength if over 25inches and SMOOTH BORE , yes agree covered under section1 certificate might be sensible.
Itis known more than one chief constable is granting an application for such andyet another will cause harassment distress and alarm to a bona fide applicantshows the apparent mentality of the chief constables .
Isay Harassment because they hope the applicant will go away! distress by thethought that such preservation will require de-activation and hence greatreduction in the equipment value? and Alarm because it is the hope that even anapplication leading to a Crown Court appeal if refused would make the legitapplication financially crazy.
itis a complete farce, there is an Act of Parliament under the terms of the firearms act, the various Chief officers who appear to be unaccountable and hide behinda wall knowing that should you take an appeal to the crown court on a refusalto grant, variation or renewal of a fire arm certificate then the ChiefConstable puts the applicant for appeal against the decision of a chiefconstable and it is the applicant who will bear THE COST IN FULL of the appealto crown court, if you lose you will have ALL YOUR costs and The ChiefConstable will claim all that he can get away or if you win the appeal you arestuck with all your costs or EVEN IF the police withdraw at the court room doorit will just be a trick by the Chief Constable just to out you the applicantout of all your substantial cost which is a trick increase the costs of yourappeal. If however you do get refused and decide tom appeal then go to the HighCourt in London Queen Bench with a copy of your Receipt from the Crown Courtwith your listed appeal number and for a fee of approximately £5 Pounds you can writeout a Subpoena Duces Taken for all the documents necessary that you require fromthe Chief Constable and name him personally in the Subpoena to appear in personat the Crown Court. Make sure that the Subpoena requires the Chief Constableprovides ALL the documents 10 Working days from the date of issue of theSubpoena. If they are not received don't accept that they will be provided onthe day of the Appeals hearing as they do not provide. If the Chief Constabledoes not accept the Subpoenas then go back the Queens bench in the HighCourt and fill out another form for an Order of Substantive Service" andserve that upon the Firearms office addressed to the Chief Constable by nameeand obtain a receipt upon delivery yourself.

We have done them sandwich boards with each side have 4 or 5 A4 laminated sheets. I preferred this option as we can update and change individual ones as we go. Just need to find a suitable way of holding the sheets on.
The sandwich board is made of two sheets of ply and then hinged at the top. With a strap to stop it opening too far.

Thanks, that's a good point regarding up dating
