  1. Now that is going to be brilliant when its done. Talking of Mk3 re-builds here's one that I think went into Fazakerley. Do you recognise this one FEC.
  2. Been staying in Woodhall Spa recently, the bar in the Petwood Hotel is worth a look. Working just down the road. Had chance to find this one :
  3. What can I say!! Mighty Antar you have just made my day!! Well week/month etc. Thanks for posting that. Blow me FEC special re-build was even singled out. Happy Days!! Thanks again. Now too watch for the fourth time
  4. Nice picture John. You would have made short work of that barrier.
  5. Here's one of the pictures taken at the Mersey tunnel. We were just waiting for the police escort. Kev, me and Dale getting ready to roll.
  6. Likewise Colin. I have to have another ride in a Mk3 they have to be my favourite vehicle. Dad has even mellowed to the fact that they aren't just lumps of metal to be welded back together. To be fair he said it was quite rare to find a really rotten one, more knocked about than anything else. Let me find those pictures a the tunnel!!
  7. Hi MIke I have quite a few. I was going to post some here (just not had a chance), but send me a pm with your email (again, sorry) and I will mail them to you. Best Wishes for the New Year, look forward to seeing the book!! PS Rush Green told me there's was gone...but not so sure.
  8. Hi Colin. The smell sitting in the cab reminds me of the main workshop at Field Lane. I was in the Willy Messerchmitt museum in germany last week, nice private one in EADS and the same smell came back to me. Kev had it all sorted with the tunnel. Police escort etc. It was funny the conversation in the cab about lights.......I had all the lights on the vehicle and trailer switched on. Kev was talking about the police escort I was thinking about the vehicle........listen to the footage. We got there in the end. The best bit was the drag out of the tunnel, we were sat in the power band all 18 and a bit litres working hard. Got to get myself a Mk3
  9. Hi Antar You are right there. I had the pleasure of sitting in most of them when they went through re-build, even your old one! Kev is a real star and it was a honour and pleasure to sit in the seat opposite him. I'm glad I figured out how to post it.
  10. Talking of lovely sounds....try this: It's taken me a while to figure out how to crop it to size but hope everyone enjoys it.
  11. Hi Paul Not been on for a while as been working away. What a great job you have made of the Mk3. Really good to see it come back together. On with the other? Where's that beauty up to? Cheers
  12. No FEC good chance it went to Stafford. Big big place easy too loose stuff there..even ANTAR bits
  13. PaulChecked the shed, nothing there!! We did have loose wheel bearings though. I rememeber them well as my sister dropped one through the bottom of bath when we were kids.Checked in with my Dad, all the spares went to RLC Burscough (was REME Command) Workshops when Fazakerley closed. I have it on good authority there were plenty of bits loaded on the transporters going there. With Burscough shut the parts are either skipped or knowing what happens with MoD ILS they are still there but in another depot. Long shot but I might know which. Will PM you.Cheers
  14. Pray tell! I am with FEC on this having had the pleasure of sitting in most of these while they went through refurb at Fazakerley. Highlight of growing up road testing on the M57. Hope she can stay in one piece! Pity I am so far away or would be up there helping.
  15. Excellent footage. Good value from the passengers point of view to. Watching puffs of smoke emitted from the gearbox top cover, or was that just when Ray was a the helm?
  16. Hi FEC. Despite my best efforts to becoem an apprecentice at Fazakerley, back in 1981, my Dad had other ideas. By then he had probabaly had 30 years of repairing everything from DUKW's (re-skinning them), Pioneers through to Antars and it was time to hang up his welding goggles and move onto site maintenance. Dreams of being a fitter!! He won the day and I went to work for Plessey's and kept my hands cleab (ish). Ah well, I still have that original Antar bug so when you win the lottery I will come and help. Cheers
  17. Hi Rush Green one sold. Anyone know where it is? Cheers
  18. Thanks for the really prompt replies. I will have a look at the sites. I checked with my colleague and these were indeed Scorpions, It was probabaly finger trouble from me. Thanks
  19. Hi All. Can any one help? I am trying to find pictures and history on two Scimitars. Does anyone have any pictures of 04FD16 and 03FD06 and are these vehicles still in one piece in private ownership? A new chap came to sit next to me in work and these were his first vehicles when new. Thanks in advance. Ed (Jimmygmc4)
  20. Hi Sorry its taken so long to get the details for you. Try Julien_Van_ Roelen@hotmail.com- He has WC56 parts - all of the bodywork. Cheers
  21. Hi FEC. I sent you a PM. Would you take a look at it please. My Dad is Ted Duffey he was on maintenance but knew the lads on test section...Ray Quinn. I used to come in there every Saturday and disappear up the yard.
  22. Hi FEC. I am new to the forum. I have just looked at all of the Antar links and am really impressed with all of the photographs and interest in these great vehicles. The Fazkerley Engineering pictures are excellent. Do you have any more? I remember the rows of Antars in Fazakerley Engineering. My Dad worked there for over 30 years mostly as a panel beater. Saturday's were special for me as I had the place to myself (graet when you are about 12 years old). I think I must have sat in every Mk3 Antar and plenty of MK2's. Every so often it would be the Saturday test section Antar treat!. A trailer fully loaded with concrete and off down the M57 with two of test section fitters. It's a pity Fazekerley closed they rebuilt everything from just after WWII upto the last Stalwarts.
  23. OK No problem, please let me know if your Dad changes his mind, I have a Ford Script to do.......minus and engine and others bits. Cheers
  24. Thanks for the bonnet picture. Did the engine sell. I guess from teh Munga in the roof you may have traded it, but if not let me know on the engine. Thanks
  25. hi good to talk to you. Definitely the one next to the WC. Cheers
