I thought it was great entertainment.....this show always brings a smile to my face. After all, it's not as if they were wrecking any decent WW2 stuff!
  2. All WW2 Production MB and GPW Jeeps had rear tool boxes. There were differences between Willys and Ford, both both had them. Post your question on G503.com.
  3. Ian, Do any of the REME numbers relate to the original chassis number?? Richard
  4. Myself and a friend are trying to organise a local monthly meet up for WW2 Jeep and MV owners. First one is planned for SUNDAY 3RD JULY at the RAINBOW AND DOVE Public House HASTINGWOOD ESSEX. We will meet from 11.30am. Come along if you can.
  5. Guys, I applied for my data card (53 YH 48) about 2 months ago. They have not cashed the cheque nor sent me anything. How long can i expect to wait? Cheers Richard
  6. I own 53 YH 48 (1944 GPW). I've recently requested a copy of the card so be interesting to see what turns up. One thing you YH guys might be able to help me with is Chassis numbers. As well as the MOS data plate, my GPW had a Chassis number stamped on the front frame horn (drivers side) but on the side of the horn (just behind the bumper). Not in the usual place and not the usual style. I have since seen seveal other British Jeeps with this additional chassis stamping and for years have wondered what it purpose was?? Was it just a duplicate stamping of the original chassis number for ease of viewing OR was it another type of British Census numbering?? Be interested to know if any of your jeeps have the number and how it relates (if at all) to the chassis number thats in the original position OR the Data plate. Cheers Richard
  7. Myself and a couple of mates are taking our Jeeps to Normandy this year. Any Jeep owners fancy joining us? Travel to Portsmouth on Thursday 3rd June, Ferry to Cherbourg, Camping near Omaha Beach, then returning to the Uk on Tuesday 8th June. Anybody seriously interested, please email me on jack1940@sky.com Thanks Richard
  8. Just completed mine with Spire.......Took 15 mins.....Simples!
  9. Hi all, Does anyone know why the British Army re-applied Chassis numbers to the side of the front frame horns (drivers side) on WW2 Jeeps and what this number related to. Should it match the original Chassis number or was it the Armys own numbering system?? I have two Jeeps with this number stamping, and a friend has a third. Any info appreciated Richard (Photo attached.....Eventually!!)
  10. Thanks Baz, What happens about an age related plate? Do they issue you one or do you choose and buy one?
  11. Hi All, Recently imported a Ford GPW from the US. Came with a US title correct to the previous owner but incorrect as far as the Chassis No is concerned!! Jeep will be in restoration for approx 2-3 years, so no rush with this, but need to know how i register it with the DVLA (getting the chassis number amended) and obtain an age related plate? Anybody been through this?? Thanks Richard
  12. Can anyone recommend an reliable Engine rebuilder, preferably not too far from the Suffolk area. Thanks.
  13. I may be stupid but......where does Liirge mention anything about WW2??:???
  14. Thanks, i did try that but nothing came up.
