Jessie The Jeep
Nine vehicles from the Durham and Tees Valley area, gathered at Croft Circuit this morning for a road run around Cleveland and Co Durham. The run planned was around 50 miles, although Lynne and myself had already travelled 36 miles to get to the start! Before we get into the scenic and 'on the move' pictures, I'll give you a line up of the starting grid. The nine vehicles were as follows. In the lead, our convoy organiser, Mike in his M38 Jeep, with Maurice as his co-driver/map reader. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/croft1.jpg Number two, and a hard to miss vehicle for the others to see and follow was Lynne and myself. Third were Ken and Anne in their Austin Champ. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/croft2.jpg Edited September 5, 2020 by Jessie The Jeep

Jessie The Jeep
The route is shown in the attached map, beginning at Croft and heading roughly North West through a ford at Barton, before starting a steady climb towards Staindrop for our first coffee stop. Jessie The Jeep
From Staindrop, we continued North West heading towards Hamsterley Forest, but rather than through the forest, we headed onto the moors where we stopped for some more photos and a group shot. http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/croft6.jpg Edited September 5, 2020 by Jessie The Jeep
Jessie The Jeep
From there we returned in an Easterly direction to our finish point at Redworth Hall where we had a late lunch before splitting up and heading for home. The last two pictures are of us all parked up at Redworth. Lynne and I finished the day having clocked up 114 miles and are now completely knackered from all the fresh air! http://www.sacarr.co.uk/mymvs/events/2009/croft8.jpg Edited September 5, 2020 by Jessie The Jeep
abn deuce
Well Done to all , no mentions of any break downs or problems and the weather looked good , what was the temp like ?
Jessie The Jeep
Ken's Champ got a vapour lock that stopped him for about 30 seconds, otherwise no problems. Temperature was nice where it was sheltered, but up on the moors it was a bit drafty!!! I'm possibly off to York in a couple of weeks for the Yorkshire MVT crank up event, so hopefully a few more photos after the 19th. Volksron
:-D From the map it looks like you went right past my house !!! - not a bad day for it, although that wind was cold.
Jessie The Jeep
Where's your house?? Here's a short video of the run. Sorry some of it is a bit shaky, the roads we were on weren't the best, and as a result, Lynne was bouncing around the back of the Jeep with the camera! Rick W
Nice looking Champ, and unusual to see a trekker. Nice looking ice cream van with the "Stop me and buy one" on it...or did I read that wrong?

Jolly Jeeper
Looks like a great day out. I recognise a couple of the 4x4s from the weekend before. The Champ (MUT 5F) and the Jeep (130 AYC) were among a great group of MVs on Denny Thompson's Northumberland off-road weekend. It was a truly excellent weekend.
