gritineye
Why is this beauty of interest on this forum, and has any one got one? It's on my wish list!
6 X 6
Are those wooden wheels and would that suggest this is an american machine ?

Richard Farrant
Bernard, Two names spring to mind with in-line 4 cyls, that is the Henderson (USA) and Nimbus (Denmark), but on looking at photos of those neither are quite like it, unless it is a very early model or prototype. 6 X 6
If not Henderson, might this be an Indian ?
gritineye
Neither of those I'm afraid Richard, it's much more practical and gorgeous than them! Not Indian either, I think you're all just guessing now.

6 X 6
Why is this beauty of interest on this forum, and has any one got one? "Why is this beauty of interest on this forum ?" ANSWER: Because it's military. "Has any one got one ?" ANSWER: I've just PM'ed everyone on the forum and nobody has got one although Andy Fowler thinks he may have one in his attic but he's not sure. So, having answered both questions correctly maybe you could now tell us what it is.
gritineye
Well it had a different but similar name later in it's production run. Here is the previous model, don't bother right clicking it, :cool2:
Richard Farrant
Well it had a different but similar name later in it's production run. Here is the previous model, don't bother right clicking it, :cool2: Ner-a-car , there used to be one like that from down your way, that came to rallies. The hub centre steering on the original pic made me think. Edited November 5, 2008 by Richard Farrant added
gritineye
Stormin, I am attracted to the stabilizers, a genius must have styled those. Richard, I new Ner-a-car would appear, not that, it's early someone will know.
Richard Farrant
Is it the semi-car (not really a motor cycle, more than 2 wheels), that A.V.Roe built for his own use?
gritineye
Nope, a clue, 1915 - 1922, I hope we don't have to wait for Tim to get home (wooden wheels, he'll know) And before you ask it ain't a Wolsley, there was only one of these and it was buried after the Rusian owner lost everything in the revolution and couldn't pay up. Later dug up by BL employees. note no training wheels! Edited November 5, 2008 by gritineye

Because it's military YES, sort of it was built and named (CLUE) to sell to the military but strangely was found to be unsuitable. Anyone got one? WRONG ANSWER at least two runners exist and one has a sidecar (presumably no training wheels) they didn't have to be members. gritineye
No more guesses so here it is, and what a feast for your eyes! Gaze in wonder at the steering, does that bearing really slide on the curved spindle? What on earth is the purpose of the two tubes pivoted and sprung at the rear and going to the already sprung saddle? More pics here. http://www.vintagebike.co.uk/Bike%20Directories/OthersItoM/pages/Militaire.htm And for a really big pic click the pic here, http://skootershooter.blogspot.com/search?q=militaire More history details here, scroll to the bottom of the page. http://www.motohistory.net/news2005/news-nov05.html Even if the military didn't want one I do, it's absolutely bloomin' marvelous! Stormin
Those left hand side pedals look to be in an awkward postion behind the footrest! Presumably clutch and brake so not just occasionally awkward.

I don't think clutch and brake are involved, clicking on the second link and then clicking on the pic will get a super size pic to study   to try and solve this riddle, I have to say I'm not sure of my conclusions either.
