The Luftwaffe uses Bf110 nightfighters equipped with Schrage Musik, upward firing Cannons for the first time.

 

The Messerchmitts met a force of 596 RAF Lancasters, Halifaxes and Stirlings as they make a deep penetration raid into Baltic Germany to attack the Pennemunde Rocket site.

 

This is bad news for the RAfFsince non of its bombers have dorsal turrets and can do nothing to protect themselves.

 

Despite the mauling the RAF inflict enough damage to the site to set the V2 program back by two months.
