bigwheel
I am trying to research a vehicle that was built for the Portuguese Military. Anyone that could assist in decoding a VIN Number? Thanks Bigwheel
fv1609
It is a Shorland. There are some pics of one used by the GNR in Portugal: https://www.shorlandsite.com/Shorland3apcGNR_Lemos.htm I have some lists of Shorland chassis numbers & Shorts serial numbers
bigwheel
Thank you so much for your photos. I am trying to determine the year model of a vehicle I am researching. The numbers are model # AC3-LH-P-085 and the Vin # is94400273B. Any help decoding these numbers will be much appreciated. Bigwheel
fv1609
I'll dig out what I have later, but to be going on with AC3-LH-P-085 is the Shorts number. AC3 - Armoured Patrol Car Mk 3 LH - Left Hand Drive P - Petrol 085 - Serial Number
fv1609
Just had a look I seem to be missing a page. I have some details of AC1-AC42 and AC86-AC103. AC86 doesn't bear much similarity to yours I'm afraid: Engine no. 25306505J Chassis no. 25422843D Customer - G. Woodroffe who bought AC86-AC102 On the Shorland site there are a few manuals that may be of interest.
bigwheel
The decoding of the model number is interesting. Could the last part 085 possibly indicate the vehicle year model to be 1985? Bigwheel
fv1609
Nope, on that basis my Shorland was made in 1909. 85 is a unique serial number preceded by the model parameters.
