An ambitious centenary event commemorating the first use of tanks in war, held at the very estate where the first tank was secretly trialled early in 1916. The fascinating displays include living history, British and German infantry, machine guns, artillery, trenches, replica Mk 1 tank, “barrage” and attack, aircraft (subject to availability), talks, exhibits and more. September 16-17: Hughenden’s Wartime Weekend, Hughenden Manor, Buckinghamshire. Our popular annual show evoking the Home Front, the manor’s key RAF Bomber Command map making role during WWII, Military and civilian living history, skirmish and weapons firing, music, song, dance and wartime exhibits. September 23-24: Wimpole at War, Wimpole Estate, Cambridgeshire. Annual 1940s show with living history, tactical displays and weapons firing, music, song, dance and other entertainment.
