1944 dodge engine paint type/colour and U.K. Stockists

Hello , over the coming winter I will be rebuilding the original engine from the dodge and when it's finished I would like to paint it the correct colour , as far as I can gauge from the web it should be smoke grey , having looked at the bell housing on the original engine the colour looks cream/beige in colour and not grey , if grey is the correct colour I would like to know where in the uk stocks such paints and would it have to be heat resistant ? Smoke grey was indeed a creamy colour - and my 1943 civvy Dodge fire engine has a motor that colour. I did not know that the military versions were the same.

 

I cannot remember now what the RAL number the nearest match was - I will see if I can find it

As I remember the paint used on little gray Fergy tractor engines was about right.

I used Ferguson grey on the half ton I did looks right to original paint found under brackets etc.most agricultural merchants will stock it

It is worth reading that link above to find the bits that shouldn't be gray, tho'

 

Just to tidy up, Dodge truck engines up to 1939/40 were metallic silver.

Thanks for everyone's help , I did find that the engine paint for fergy tractors is similar to the correct colour , I'll see how much Dallas wants at the next digout
