Catch 22 LBDR
FOR SALE: Hi all. I am selling an ex RAF Pinnace, Target towing launch on behalf of my Father who is just to old to live on her any more, It is a much loved little ship and a very reluctant sale and a unique peace of British history. It was used by the RAF to tow targets out to sea for them to bomb and is still very much original. Many of this type of boat were refitted as pleasure craft and are totally unrecognisable any more. Our intention was always to keep her as original as possible with the view to one day restore her back to her former glory. Although the vessel is structurally sound time has taken its toll on her and the decision to pass her on to a like-minded individual was made. It would be nice to see her gleam with pride once again. She was built by Grooves and Gutheridge in the Isle of white in 1966 and has a double diagonal African mahogany hull with an aluminium wheel house. Twin 180shp Roles Royce diesel engines. Draft is one metre, 16foot wide, a 2tone derrick, and a Ballard pull of 5tons. There is a full history and original workshop/user manual She is located in Ireland and can be delivered to a harbour of your convince (within the Uk or Europe) Any one who has worked on timber boats before will know the kind of work required to tackle such a project, it's not for the faint hearted. Things that require attention would be the leaking deck, both generator engines and general repair and maintenance that goes with owning a wooden boat. Thanks for reading this post and please dont hesitate to ask questions. Pictures to follow. Ross
