timsytanker
I am looking to buy an OT-65 or BRDM2 and intend to swim it. Has anyone got any experience of swimming these vehicles and what should I look out for when having a climb around one in terms of things to make it stay on the surface......? Tim. BRDM Driver
Depends what version BRDM. I'd go for as new as possible. Seals and gaskets from the 70's are going to be a bit crumbly by now. My BRDM has been in the water. Just make sure the bilge pump works and that the hydraulics are ok as they hold the drain cock closed. The BRDM design is basically a boat hull with wheels so there are not many leak paths...apart from the deliberate ones! Cooling is by water heat exchanger so that bit needs to be ok too. Where are you based?
ArtistsRifles
As the previous poster said - make sure all the seals are up to the mark, not broken, cracked or missing. Then find a copy of the user hand book and read it thoroughly to make sure you know where any external valves are. And if it includes it - the section on how to get out fast (just in case!!) handler 69
Good luck mate. With the SKOT...make sure the air compressor is working, otherwise no PTO ( or much of anything else) therefore no props. :nut: Cheers
