MARTIN CROSS
Hi I have just got a Mog and built a 'cabin' on the back. I wanted to know what these vehicles were used for so that I can get some photos, especially of any loads etc. The truck has 'Marineflieger' on the windscreen and I can make out the anchor symbol under the paint on the rear tailgate.I imagine it might have been search and rescue or similar. Please can anyone help. Thanks, Martin

schliesser92
These were general service vehicles and were used for everything, especially on airfields. They were rarely fitted with cabins on GS chassis as boxbody versions were available, and used as command and control vehicles for fire/crash-rescue teams and as ambulances. Some GS vehicles were fitted with snowblowers, and there were also specialist fire tenders.

Have a look on this brilliant website: http://www.panzerbaer.de/helper/bw_lkw_02t_gl-a.htm Look for the "LKW 2T" - the description for the Mog in the Bundeswehr!
