I believe it was used to pull a trailer loaded with some kind of missile. The exhaust is routed through a large tank of water to douse any sparks that may be present. That exhaust system is interesting because a friend had a 1944 Austin K6 Coles Crane and that had the exhaust running through a water tank, so I assumed it was designed to work with munitions.
