CanadianScottish
Trying to help out a pal with this one. The batteries on his Hotchkiss run down after a while especially if the lights are on. We checked out the voltage prior to starting, after starting and then with the lights on, the voltage dropped at each point, at no point did we see over 24.2 volts and that was prior to starting. On checking the 6 wire plugged harness between the regulator and alternator I found we only had continuity on 3 of the wires, is this correct? Any experts out there can advise? handyman
I have found that on my Hotchkiss the voltage needs to be right up tp 24v plus and once it drops starting can be a problem.
CanadianScottish
Thanks for the reply Barry, as I said originally, I believe it is simply not charging, but have no info on the wiring on the Hotchkiss. I assume it will be the same or similar to my Dodge. Anyway we will have another play with it next weekend.
