  1. I have done a simple recording with Audacity,

    -So click red record button

-Play your sound file & stop when you want

-You can edit/delete any part of that sound file by highlighting that section of the sound wave & delete.

-If you are intending to use/upload to a website then suggest saving as a WAV file if not then mp3.

    Hope that helps, cheers Paul

  2. Fortunately the organiser Keith Shakespeare will not be organising the Evesham Easter Show or the Evesham Steam Rally in August anymore.

He used to go out if his way to tell me that "the public don't come to see the military section, they are a bit funny about the military you know!"

I accept that at a Vintage show not everyone is interested in every section, but to say that when the USP (Unique Selling Point) at Evesham is the WW2 Camp is just daft, especially when its full of people milling around!

  3. I'm currently looking for a replacement car and was interested in a couple of vehicles but started to question the mileage & became suspicious.

I first rang the dealerships which were Audi & Volvo and they could confirm when the vehicles were serviced but I noticed large gaps. eg. one vehicle had its last service in 2004 at 56,000 miles yet seller stated mileage was 61,000. A thousand miles a year, pull the other one!

I then tried to find out their MOT history, using the link below the car that had supposedly done 61,000 had in fact done 116,000.

So if you are buying a car or even an MV please do a quick check here so as not to get conned. Its free, just include Vehicle reg, MOT test number and or V5 document ref. But again be warned as one seller quoted a test number that didn't match up, turned out the MOT certificate was a forgery.

What also surprised me was that on the second vehicle it showed the last 3 MOTs but the mileage on the last test was lower than the other two. I questioned this with VOSA to ask what action they take when mileage decreases and they said none as its not their responsibility!

Little wonder the crooks are clocking vehicles!

    BUYER BEWARE!

  4.

The only thing that slightly annoyed me was the parking arrangements. They took the entry fee from drivers as soon as they pulled in to the field - so of course the traffic behind was backed up all the way from Cosby! It took me 30 minutes to get less than half a mile because of that. They should have got cars parked asap then let the people get their entry ticket from a separate hut.

Going home and getting out of the field with only one exit caused a few log jams of cars. If only they could have had another exit for cars wanting to turn left out of the car park it would have emptied much quicker!

I think they were just over-whelmed by the number of people trying to get in and had to open up other fields. Some put estimates at about 20,000 in comparison to the Sunday that saw around 5,000. Thats the draw of the Vulcan.

There is a second exit at the bottom of the 3rd field and I went straight out through it on the Sunday avoiding the queue trying to get out through the entrance. I agree it was not clear & perhaps they could have got some of the cadets to help.

  5. And here are the girls.

They only hired the camp for the day but had they found it earlier then more would have been filmed there. They also used a local pub and did quite a bit of filming in Warwickshire.

The owner of the two Tillys is now checking his bonnet as he had hoped that it was the lightest one sitting on it.

  6. A new five part series Land Girls starts on Monday 7 September at 5.15pm, a bit early for most but will be repeated later and on the weekend / BBC iplayer.

Some of the scenes were filmed at the camp with some of our members vehicles. They filmed at the end of June, the day after our show & it was quite interesting to watch as all the supporting crew suddenly invaded & they even had a live rat to put in with the prisoner.

Quote from Paul Dalby the pyro man

"This year the AFRA team are providing the main event and choreographing the battle display each day. Our team have just completed a final site visit to plan the display and incorporate the required elements. 2009 is particularly special as the Vulcan Bomber will give a display culminating in a recreation of the bomb run on Port Stanley which was the only time a Vulcan was used operationally. AFRA will recreate 21 1,000lb bombs being dropped from 300ft with the plane travelling at 500knots. This is a first and probably a last! Alongside this we are putting on the biggest WWII battle yet with over 10 German armoured vehicles including a replica PzIII and 5 replica 222 armoured cars as well as troop carriers and other historic vehicles in convoy. An astounding battery of EIGHT - yes EIGHT 25lber guns will be in operation manned by the most Excellent Garrison Living History Group. Two Shermans and a Chaffee will provide Allied Firepower and the South Wales Borderers will have their Bren Carrier on the field. Add to this American halftracks and a host of jeeps, kubels and motorcycles this promises to be a busy extravaganza"

  9. I know I'm a numpty but why is a seventy year old BRITISH searchlight 90cm please ?

Good question, its because the searchlights concave mirror/reflector is classed as an optical instrument so equipment like as cameras and telescopes, were all manufactured in Europe and all measured in metric.

  10. Yes , had that feeling where your stomach turns over whilst bidding, its like your brain says no but somehow your fingers keep on punching the numbers.

Doubt the chap who paid 97 would admit to it if he's read you got a copy for very little.

  11. Evesham2009023.jpg

Does anybody have any idea what may of been here Frank couldnt remember.

I asked Neil Wedgbury who was an apprentice there and he thinks this was for a rotary indexing machine, ie. a piece of metal placed in the middle would be drilled or bent or cut by different moving heads.
