  1. Again I'm pleased to confirm that following the success of last year's show with 280 military vehicles & 200+ re-enactors its on again for 2011.

I would like to invite those who attended last year and any other vehicle owners to what will be the Midlands largest military vehicle event so please either register or visit if you can.

  2. My K9 was sold off in 1983 so that might be an indicator.

Don't know dates for SAS but here's a pic, caption was "Charlie at work in the Northern Oman dessert" from the book One Mans's SAS by Lofty Large.

Some more info on a k9 site I pulled together, see signature.

    cheers Paul

  3. WOW! Some nice pics there. A lot of stuff that you dont normally see down south. I like the ultra rare GKN Simba. Must be the only one in private hands. Like the Humber trucks as well. Thanks for the pics...

Very imposing that Simba & yes the only one in UK & one of my favourites.

It was a great atmosphere around the camp & the MP's had fun dragging mis-behaving Mops into the Cooler.

Also thought 'Monty' looked good in the Dingo.

  4. Hi Guys,

Thanks for posting those pics, some good ones there. I hope to post some later once I find my camera.

A great weekend, with many more vehicles & public than last year, but I'm sure that as it was so hot it probably put a few off attending & of course it was quieter on the Sunday due to the footie.

Really impressed with some of the dioramas like Yanks, Land Army and our local boys 2nd Bat. Glosters with their pub, and good to meet some fellow HMVF'ers.

  5. I have had four e-mails and a phone call from a German lass looking for someone who collects MV's to appear on a German TV program. My instant reaction was "No way", and now i understand other people have had this approach as well. I have had two warning e-mails from the MVT about this woman. Has anybody else been approached?

I generally try to avoid the TV as these people go out of their way to make us all look insane war mongers.

Yes Bob & I have had the same, sounds plausible but you just don't know what slant they are looking for, will give wide berth me thinks.

  6. Just in case those attending have not received my email ref the BAR;

    Hello Folks,

On behalf of the South Midlands Area of the MVT, we are all really looking forward to receiving you at our camp and with the good local weather forcast it should be a cracker.

The number of vehicle entries continues to rise, with over 370 due to attend and about 330 of those are military and of course we have even more re-enactors supporting this event. We also have appx 50 traders selling a mix of militaria, books, clothing, food (Palace Cuisine for breads pasties & pies), insignia, tools, surplus, sweets, models, toys, blank ammunition (Paul Heddell) and if you need any leather work then Fred can do it over the weekend.

Now for some disappointing news, the Bar provider has unfortunately messed up and is without a licence to sell alcohol over the weekend, I won't repeat the exchanges we have had but we are all a little frustrated. He will be selling soft drinks but if you want alcohol then you will have to bring your own and you will be allowed to consume it at our private party for all entrants during the evening in the marquee, so I'm hoping I've given you enough notice to add to your supplies. Or you can buy from Morrisons, just two roundabouts South of the show just off A46.

So we are really sorry for this oversight, but looking on the bright side at least it will save you some money and there won't be too much of a queue at the bar unless you are behind me waiting to poke the someone in the eye!

Can Group leaders please let the rest of their members know.

Updated listing of whats on and site layout are on our website.

    See you all soon.

    Kind Regards

    Paul
