Just totted up & now have 260 vehicles booked in so well on the way to exceeding last years 350. Ok that does include 110 Champs, but still very good considering its a particularly busy weekend.

Also been told that the Garrison are attending with their 150cm Searchlight & possibly 2 or 3 25pdr's. So hope to get our two 90cm lights working (off electric) and create a true cone effect with all three.

How many are there & are they for sale?

I asked a friend Graham B who used to test them & this was his reply:

No, never built, but it was just one of the options that could be available for the Streaker along with various bowsers, Bar Mine layers and ammo transport systems on offer. Only 2 Streakers were built; obviously these option where not taken up.

this is now in the possession of Andrew Baker.

The whole concept was later improved and indeed the vehicle enlarged to include greater crew protection that included NBC and air con for Gulf War 1. This was Stallion, son of Streaker. Six were made and fitted with a scatterable mine system to support the campaign into Iraq. My part in this was that I tested the vehicles overnight, rectified, commissioned the various

system and got them to Long Marston the next day for shipment to the Gulf. The climate there is much better for drying the paint!

Thanks great story, you can only chuckle in disbelief.

Yes advisable to carry lifejackets but thats up to the owners and passengers just like those going past in the Canadian canoe.

Its not officially part of the show as its off site but a pleasant add on that some amphibious owners have commented upon & enjoyed.

And as stated for added safety I have arranged for a rescue boat to be on hand.

Ambitious Amphibians - This year we are hoping to attract more amphibious vehicles as its not often that these vehicles can go and have a play in the water, as we are fortunate to have access to a slipway into the River Avon in Evesham town centre just 1.5 miles away. We have set aside a few quid to make a contribution towards fuel costs for these vehicles and we are also providing a Rescue boat.

The plan is to leave for river at 5pm for a swim then back in time for the evenings entertainment.

So if you have one or know someone that does then please do contact me.

Pleased to say that the Dad's Army Van will be with us again to help make up a great Home Front display.

Had mixed news whilst at Stoneleigh.

Really pleased to hear the Austin Champ owners club have now reached their target of 100 Champs so I think that will be quite an impressive turnout.

Sadly our commentator James Butlin passed away yesterday. Such a sad loss, only in his forties & so knowledgeable on vintage & military vehicles. To me, he really was my anchorman during the show for the last two years & will be sorely missed + at many other shows to include Duxford, Birdingbury, Hollowell, Kettering & a few others he did. He was also a Special with Northamptonshire Police. He became unwell in September with a kidney infection & deteriorated. But only two weeks ago he rang me from hospital to say he was on the mend & that he would be at the show & he had just bought a Praga V3S (not sure if it was the one on sale on HMVF in December) & was going to have it fitted out as a camper.

Rest in Peace.

Fortunately for me I only live three miles away so I'll be there on the MVT stand with forms for show so do pop bye to say hellooo.

Clive, it would be great if you could make it in the Shorland, I've only seen one before & that was a few years ago.

I'm sure we will be ok, as we discussed it at length with our local MVT members & the MVT Council.

Our show was already in a strong position having grown steadily over the last three years and with its fairly central location, makes it accessible to more. And its not just all about green machines, there is always something to see as we are not just camping in a field but have the camp which really helps create a great atmosphere, so we'll see how it progresses this year, but so far the support & number of new people registering who have not been previously is good.

All the entertainment has been booked, Kitten von Mew will dancing again + its her 30th birthday party so might be a long line of blokes wanting to give her a birthday kiss, Fiona Harrison singing & 40's DJ Woody to carry on into the night.

Toilets booked & this year we are aiming to get some showers there.

And the cinema will be running again.

The Champers have been very supportive & very keen to help promote the event. By November they already had 87 Champs booked in, with about a dozen from Holland & other owners/visitors from Australia & Hawaii have already been sorting their accommodation. We are also giving them a large chunk of real estate to set up various displays, so Champ owners should have a great week.

Yes its an unfortunate clash.

For the last three years we have run this show on the fourth weekend of June & so we have continued with that for 2012. Its been a similar situation for a few other events that we clash with like the first of the Seven Valley weekends & the Muckleburgh Collection but I believe we won't clash with another large regional show at Banbury or Tankfest again next year, not that has much effect on us as we are miles apart like A&E.

Its always a tricky one sorting out dates as there is always something that will clash. Our vehicle entries are also include alot of Post War vehicles that would not be able to enter A&E.

And both A&E & our event already have alot of support & I'm sure both will be a success.

Following the success of Wartime in the Vale over the last three years, the South Midlands area of the MVT are pleased to announce this show has now been awarded National Show status by the Military Vehicle Trust for 2012. The venue with its central location and unique WW2 camp with its many nissen huts has grown in popularity with over 350 military wartime and post war vehicles attending in 2011.

Now with National status / support, there will be an even greater selection of vehicles and re-enactors with a mix of military and civilian displays. For 2012 we are also hoping to attract more amphibious vehicles as its not often that these vehicles can go and have a play in the water, as we are fortunate to have access to a slipway into the River Avon in Evesham just 1.5 miles away.

We are also pleased the Austin Champ Owners Club have selected this show for their Champ Camp, as 2012 is particularly special for them as they are celebrating the 60^th Anniversary of the Champ and nearly 100 Champs are already booked in with vehicles from the UK and abroad.

There will be a large selection of traders, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (applied for), children’s fair, cinema, entertainment in the marquee and various vehicles displays going on in the arena and the camp will be fully opened with all its displays and extensive range of air raid shelters, along with lots of visitors in period dress contributing to the atmosphere.
