    Hi all, This was sent to me, apologies to all who have seen it before but I thought it may be of interest to others. This INCREDIBLE picture was taken in 1918. It is 18,000 men preparing for war in a training camp at Camp Dodge in Iowa .

    Chris, I have that one already, although it has section 25 pages 169-171 Flotation Equipment, it does not have the illustration that you posted. I do have the manual for swimming a CVRT though. Made me think there was more information available. I therefore assumed that you had an additional publication that dealt with swimming. Can i ask where you got the illustration of the propeller unit?

    Much appreciated Chris, any chance of a copy of the swimming manual? I shall of course reimburse you for your materials time and trouble.

    Chris, Thanks’ Grasshopper also pointed me toward that one, but I felt the price was rather high, and I need to see one complete with handle and tubes preferably.

    Thank's Chris, Now all I have to do is find a pair should be easy!!!!! Will speak to Andy and see if any even exist, then all I need is the extended mudguards and bilge pump this may take some time.

    Has anyone got a photo of a Spartan in the water? I have Photo's in books of swimming Abbotts and wading Chieftans but as yet not seen a floating Spartan. Now get your books and photo albums out and start searching.

    Don't let land or storage stop you. Like Sirhc stuffem up your drive and let the neighbours whinge! Works well enough for me, sometimes gets a bit boring having to move 3 vehicles to get to the one I want though :shocked:

    All good clean fun you lucky sod! I was clocked through a radar beam at 154.9mph in the XKR and Jaguar never did answer my letter of complaint (XKR is supposed to be electronicaly limited to 155mph). I still want my extra 0.1mph!!!

    Not been in there yet Chris. Do you recomend thick gloves and a helmet or is this a job best fobbed off on Grasshopper in case something evil lurks within?

    Thanks Snapper, Isn't that Spartan with the flotation screen just beautiful!! When does the new toy arrive? you will have to spin out to ashingdon for tea and buns/tarts/whatever.

    Thanks for this, I was an Army Brat! born in the military hospital at Rinteln. Spent most of my first seven years of life in Germany, photos of Napier barracks are nice to see. Shame I haven't managed to visit before it was demolished.

    Ah so her dodgy taste in men is nicely balanced by very good taste in motor vehicles:). When I sort the clutch out (small problem something to do with the cosmos not allowing me to have everything working all at the same time, fix one break one that’s the way it goes) I shall pay you a visit with Mrs Ratty and we shall go to the pub in the Jag.

    Boat has been suggested CW, I have been lead to believe that the 8L V10 has been fitted to some quick racing boats so who knows? Sorry Degsy nice try, incidentally it was a Jaguar press car and was lent to Clarkson I even have his Autograph in my service book and my car appears on one of his DVD’s, so close but no.

    Some more photos of my trip to the Somme. As Snapper has mentioned in one of his posts, the size of the Lochnagar crater cannot be explained with a picture, it really does need to be experienced to appreciate the scale. I have reduced the size of photo in all my posts as most of them seem to be 1-2 meg if anyone would like a copy of any of my pictures with more detail please pm me and I shall email you a full size copy.
