  1. Got to ask Nick - how come you have one of those :schocked:

It seemed a bargain at the time....err...put a silly bid on it and no one else bid... blame Ebay  It took 3 to lift it into the back of my open Dodge WC, then I drove back through the centre of London getting lots of silly comments, told 'em I was a military mobile dentist :-D had to dismantle it to get it out,.... its now cluttering up the garage

  2. I've just found these pics I took over 35 years ago of how the Jagd Panzer was before being recovered in the 90's by Bob Fleming from the Pirbright firing range, and recently restored, you can see the state it was in with one side completly blown away, no tracks, we used to play on it as kids along with the remains of Shermans, Crusaders Churchills Valentines, even a Panzer1! all destroyed as targets

i wouls love a Dodge, my very favourite MV of them all. But my planning is all based on a fairly standard garage becoming available....

I keep my Dodge in a standard Marley garage with up'n over door, have to take canopy and hoops off, bit of a chor. then fold screen, it just fits with a couple of inches to spare each side, it normally drives in forwards then I climb out over the back.

Another hmvf member keeps his Ferret in the next garage

  4. Some of the original batch of 50 BRC 40 Bantams, forerunner to the MB/GPW supplied in 1941 to the British Army were used in the western desert.

The Bantam recently for sale on milweb was claimed to be the oldest combat Jeep in the world having been a survivor of those used

  5. Yes it was at Beckton, doing yet another starter drive change on one the "Walker Bulldog" tanks, engine and g/box out, we got it down to less than 2 hours, they were very prone to breaking the drive on start up from cold if the engine kicked back

  6. Many years ago an AWDC member aquired a Triumph Pony gearbox, which is basically a modified Triumph 1300 fwd car box and installed it into a car making it 4wd, made a strange sight seeing a Triumph Dolomite driving around trials sites
