The first pic is an Austin Ant 4x4 prototype, only a few made, they used the 1100 engine and gearbox with a modified diff unit to give drive to the rear wheels, several still survive
taken from the 1966 chertsey Exhibition catalouge. Wonder if any have survived?

The LT Museum opened to the public today so off I went to check it out, .and....er ... oh..where on earth did they spend all that money!!. yes the building is very nice, on 3 levels now, lots of walkways and lifts and stairs but there is now less vehicle exhibits than previous, which comprise, a couple of underground carraiges, a routmaster, 50's single decker, tram, trolleybus, and an early open top bus, upstairs are the steam engine and carraiges and horse drawn stuff, but do we really want to see a new black cab and a modern fiberglass double decker, there is a huge empty space in the centre of the building infiltrated with tables and chairs seems to be the cafe! There is lots of interactive stuff for the kids but considering what is shut away over in Acton they could have done better, perhaps in time they might bring in some more vehicles

Discovery Real Time TV Channel, "Wreck rescue" programme presented by Mark Evans this week featured the first episode of restoring a former logging AEC Matador by father /son team Peter and Steve Read who already have a Diamond T wrecker and a Jimmy plus other interesting stuff hiding in the background of their yard.
The Matador still had its Ruddington lot number painted on the front of the cab.
This episode also featured Harris's Amusments who own 9 Matadors, they operate the funfair at Beltring.
Watch out for the next episodes

I see the Bedford on Scrap Heap Challenge finally got the chop tonight
Did you all spot the bit of tv editing in the final of Scrapheap challenge, when the RL chassis vehicle hit the water it obviously broke its trackrod and you could see the NS front wheel go onto full lock, however the next shot both wheels were pointing straight.....

Thanks Tony.
I'll arrive next Friday. I don't know if I will pick the all zone travel card. I think I'll mostly need the two or three inner zones. And when going into the other ones, I'll can pay the additional fees.
Buy an Oyster card to travel in London an electronic swipe card. the cheapest way to travel, buy online or at any station/newsagents, just top up as you use it. see:-

Apparently several weeks ago entries had exceeded 100 vehicles, so keep fingers crossed for good weather
-
There were trucks specifically built as troop carriers as opposed to cargo trucks with folding side bench seats, eg Bedford QL Trooper, slightly longer body with 4 rows of fixed bench seats

Has to be "Full Metal Jacket" voted as one of the best war movies ever made, perhaps I'm a bit biased as it kept me employed for quite a while, .....and my names in the credits too...

It is a Morris Commercial light reconnaisance car base on 15cwt 4x4 truck parts, rear engined, fairly rare now, there is one at Duxford. My Uncle had removed the turret and cut larger windows into it. It does still survive having been restored, last I heard in was in the Norfolk area
-
And here is a pic of the Morris, which I susequently remember playing in, and Uncles DUKW

My Mother always reckon my interest in military vehicles was something to do with whilst heavily pregnant with me she got a lift home in my uncles Morris armoured car that he used regularly as a car, apparently it was very difficult for her to get out through the small armoured door....she gave birth to me the next day.....was nearly born in an armoured car.......
