  1. Just bought an MW with no data plate. It's not an aero screen version nor has it been converted from one. This makes it 41-45 I guess. Can anyone tell me if there are any features that define a particular period of manufacture so I can narrow it down. Andy, you own one so wondered if you can advise, Can't find any books on the subject - no surprise!! Bedford logo, not Vauhall, in the rad panel and grille mesh on the outside etc. Tapered instrument panel. Any help appreciated cheers Simon
  2. HI Jules I think I have one but looks like John will come to the rescue!! Do you still have any spare engine covers. We spoke about them at W&P. I think you had one part... I went to see Rolf Ask in Norway a week or so back to see a C4 and a CGT for a mate. Really nice guy and a real enthusiast. I had a great time looking at all his stuff. Once I can figure out shipping costs, and if the numbers run, Rolf and I have agreed that i will bring back as much of his NOS Morris spares as I can in the trucks and deal from the UK. I have seen the stock and there's plenty of it. Mostly 4 cyl engine stuff and a few body and brakes bits too. NOS springs and shackles are the heavy bits and not exzactly going to rush off the shelves but.... He has piston sets inc rings etc, and also cyl sleeves so you can start all over again!!! Prices wil be his call and having them at my storage willhlep my resto on the C4 assuming it all happens. Simon
  3. Rik- no it's next week mate ( try to keep calm- I am trying, but not really succeeding!!) Jules - My C8 will be up for sale shortly if you're after another... RE W&P. Sounds good mate. We only had a brief chat this year and I'm hoping to talk to Andrew Sawford and his boys about maybe getting together again as this year only poss more co-ordinated. we'll see... Simon
  4. Thanks for the input boys. Nice pix (ta Jules) and proves the desert look to be a winner (saves re-spraying my Jeep too!!) Shame mine isn't an aero screened version, unless I take off the doors and repro the small screens!!! However, in The Way Ahead film, you seen the cast roll up in an MW in Egypt. It has a full screen etc, but no front or rear canvas and looks great (cheaper resto if you delete the canvas cost too!!). We did 8th Army at W&P last year with a corner of a desert building as the backdrop. If the truck is done we might revisit that idea.... I like the Bren hanging off the rear cab rail, shown in the film, but not sure it it would be sensible to pul the trigger!! I'll check out those web sites Jules - - - - did you buy that C8 Rik was telling me about??????? cheers Simon
  5. HI John, Welcome to the mob. What type of truck are you looking for?? Early war or late etc? My group are interested in coming up North next year for some events and meet some new people etc.... cheers Simon
  6. Has anyone got any pics of Bedford MWs in the desert? Shots of inside the cab would also be useful as i shall soon have to build the cab floor! Simon
  7. Rik, If you still need to make up the cab I have several components you can use as patterns of you want me to bring them on Monday?? Jules - are around that day as I 'm near by? Simon
  8. thanks lads. Appreciate the kind comments Deuce. I've got through loads more OD paint than I expected but it is a beast for sure. I'll load up some more pix shortly with some different views and photos of parts before and after. I'd like to make a wooden body for it to be complete, but it may have to go without one. Simon
  9. Mod Edit.. sorted photo links out :-D http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m58/krazy_kats/June07originalcond007.jpg[/img] http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m58/krazy_kats/June07originalcond009.jpg[/img] http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m58/krazy_kats/C8engineOCt07003.jpg[/img]
  10. Don't think my bank manager would agree with you. This company were paying a decent amount for the jeep hire/clothes and daily acting fee etc, but I don't do it every month, more's the pity. However I do have some interesting projects on the go which I will fill you in about a bit later..... Simon
  11. They made only 2000 of the type 2 trailers. Slightly beefyer than the earlier type Made between 1944 and 1945. £275. Or I could complete it if someone wanted it like that....
  12. It's a 'walkaround' of my mate's 1942 CS8. I write for the pulisher of the mag on a different subject as they have several hobby titles in their protfolio. I have others in the pipeline, but everything has to collide at the same time, it seems!! Just finished working on a 3 hour doc on the formation of the SAS so still cleaning all my kit. Good fun driving Jeeps around at night with pyros going of etc!! Iwas re-enactment co-ordinating and supllying vehicle and costumes etc. My son is one of the main characters. Will will a 3 parter on History Channel in Feb... My experiance of film work says it's all done in the edit, so I expect it to be very good, from what I was involved in but we'll have to wait and see... i can load up some pix when I have re-sized them if you want. cheers Simon
  13. yeah sorry mate. Trying to do too many things at a time on the computor, and getting non of them right!!! I'm in the middle of an article for Military Machines mag aswell as other work, then when the sun comes out, I rush out to do some more on the truck!! cheers Simon
  14. .......Unless I'm out your way when I will deliver at no extra charge!! I also have a 10cwt type 2 'airborne' trailer for sale. Currently it's in progress with a sandblasted and primed chassis and new sides/ends which have been made for it with the corect double return at the top edge. New corner parts too. It has the original six bolt wheels and a spare one too. Original spring loaded handles on the front but currently a ball type towing eye (handy for moving it about!) Frame needs some small repairs, then the new parts welding on, but I'm out of storage space so..... know anyone who'd be interested?? Simon
  15. Sorry had to go and look at it again. How about £60??
  16. Yep I'll take those bits Simon, let me know how much etc, etc. ;-) I'll check over the best pair and put a coat of OD on them if you like, and the cowl/rad panels too. Say £30?? If you want them left in primer no probs. I also have some of the brass countersunk screws that hold the windscreen opening brackets tot he frame. These normally seize and the ones I have (4ba I think) are too long but ca be cut down). You need 12 for the whole screen. if you want them let me know. My brother lives in Ampthill so if you're happy with the price, I may be able to get them over to his and you could pick up from MK if that works... Simon
  17. Yeah for sure mate. I have some bits that I know Rik has ( just need to find them!!). As the Truck is nearly all back together all the bits which have been restored/painted etc, have come out of their respective boxes and bolted back on the truck. This means that I can get to other boxes where the extra bits have ben kept in case I needed them. I have 2 pairs of the 1/4 steel chassis to front bumper plates. These are the foot long ( ish) parts with a 90 deg bend that bolt to the chassis rail and then pick up the bumper. The headlamp bars bolt into them. Rik: I have a pair of the metal rectangles that fit next to the rad blasted and in primer if you need them. I have a spare radiator too. I know you got one recently Rik so open to you C8fat.... I'll get some pix up for you to see shortly. 'Before and after' type OK??
  18. Hi Rik, This C8 will have to go I'm afraid, but only once I'm happy it's a good as it can be. Subject to a registration plate, it will be sold ready to drive off (or drive onto a transporter!!!) I have loads of pix of the resto to go with the sale so any potential buyer can see all the work that's been done. It has tons of original bits, corretc Butler headlamps, original instruments, rad grill and I'm just getting new seat covers made up using some old but nice canvas to keep the 'look' right. I'm just trying to assemble the windscreen now... new glass looks good! Si I willsort out the spares situ. You have first shot of course
  19. OK I'll take some tomorrow and measure as well, if you need it. cheers Simon
  20. Hi boys, I know Rik W has been doing his C8 over the last few months. I have some pix of my resto too, however, it's a fact that it's not unlike Rik's ( big, green etc) I can post some pix if there's any interest. It has got in the way of my Morris 10, airborne trailer and MB respray so it's nearly done. May have to sell due to space etc.... Rik, I have the screen just about to be re-assembled. Sorry for delay- do you still need dimensions mate?? I will have some bits left over if anyone's interested. Simon
  21. I can make some measurements of my window parts if that would help? Simon
  22. Rik, do you need a door as a pattern for your C8 as I will have a spare good enough for that purpose if you're interested. Plus a cab floor panel too. Were the windscreen pix any use?? I will get the other window bits out of storage shortly if it stops raining! Put a good coat of green on the truck yesterday whilst the weather was good. cheers Simon
  23. HI Rik and people! Sorry been on tour last few weeks with no laptop to WW2 vehicle goings on!! I have loads of pix of this wreck, er, I mean Morris!! I went and saw it a few weeks ago, before it was advertised. Stating 95% complete is incredibly inaccurate shall we say.... You have more on your truck in its present state Rik, then this has, and yours works!! It is a 1942 CS8, well what's left of it. I can tell you more if you want, but the new owner really has a job on his/her hands. cheers Simon
  24. HI Rik, If you send me your e-mail I have pix of another C8's windscreen and I'm just assemblying mine so I have all (I hope!!) the bits which I can photo for comparison. Would that help? Just spraying all my cab and cowling parts after sandblasting/priming/filling etc. Saw Julian M at Belting was it was nice to catch up with him and his neat C8. cheers mate Simon PS Still no luck finding a C4 for my wireless house or a GS body for my C8....
  25. HI Rick, Back from hols last week. No MVs in barns but I did look pretty hard!!! Collect truck on monday. I can do a resto photo thing on the proper part of the forum if you're interested, although it may be sporadic as I have to move a Morris 10 car out to get in sprayed before I can move the truck in!! Just loading a WD Royal Enfield engine back into the frame too, so space is limited.... actually what I mean is that I've too many things apart at one time!! One part that is missing is the MCC sterring wheel centre plate. Any ideas except for e-bay???? cheers Simon
