  1. Weekend spent fitting the new tin work on the wheel lockers. Hours of drilling, quite pleased with the end results. Bolted them together for now, eventually I’ll need to pull them apart, few small repairs on the arched sections needed, paint, then ready to rivet them back together. Just need to work out a method.
  2. Little progress on the trailer. I wasn’t sure what condition the spare blade box was in, looked good, but the only way to be certain was to remove it. No rot, great condition, just required the layers of paint removing, good sand up, treated to a thin layer wood preserver,
  3. Pushed the generator trailer on a little today. New sheet metal for the stowage bins.
  4. Tony. Thanks for sharing. If nothing else the images have helped answer some of the questions I had.. Reality is the the trailer will continue to degrade and probably end up in scrap. Electrical repair trailer, another rare one, and probably a better find than the saw bench. The chassis do turn up, occasionally. But finding a complete one worthy of restoring. Like finding hen’s teeth. Next trailer after the saw bench I think needs to be the compressor version. Just need to find a good candidate.
  5. Tony. The saw bench looked like a good buy. Based off the images it’s a complete example. . Shame you couldn’t secure the deal. Is there no way you could follow this up? So the engine in my saw bench is incorrect, I can see this how the chassis has be altered to fit the bigger engine in, just wasn’t 100% on what should be fitted? Based of some of the other trailers I’ve seen it looks to be a JAP, the one you have photographed without the cowl confirms this. Difficult to work out what the model would be off an image, JAP 5 or JAP 6, any experts that can confirm of a photo? Do we know if the drive is v belt or flat belt? Have you any other images that might show this? The videos you have posted too, I’ve never seen these before, great little source of information.
  6. Thanks Wally, Anyway to work out when the trailer would be released from the army?
  7. Spent a few hours on the trailer this evening. Pulled the old petter out, this is a later edition into the trailer, and from what information I have incorrect for the saw. so now on the hunt now for a JAP 5, has anyone got one kicking around they would like to sell? Used in old generators / charging sets of the time. You can see how the sub frame has been altered to fit the much larger petter. There will be some fabrication work required to correct this.
  8. Anything and everything that needed to be repaired, structural timbers for bridges, loading ramps, new tent poles!!
  9. So managed to pull the data plate off tonight Lightly cleaned up, really nice condition, Mild steel WD number X6151445 contract number 7945. Orme Evans, given to various 2 wheeled trailers. There is also the post war registration, anyone with access to the keycards? 73YK00
  10. Hi Rob, I assume your bowser chassis came off ebay? The 100 gallon trailer is rare, associated parts that are super rare .... If the chassis is the one i think you have the upright frames have been shortened. These will need to be refabricated The tank is a difficult part to locate, as most will have rotted out, I was lucky as another member on this forum located two Still 10 years hunting and securing one. You could make one.... but it would be a big job. Pipe fittings are 7/8BSP, which are now a non standard size. very hard to find. I had to make some to finish my bowser off. Pumps and filters, very rare, do turn up, very expensive when they do. I have two 100 Gallon trailers, I would consider selling one if you wanted something just ready to go, I also have a spare pump and filter, and some hose. I have the restoration of the 100 gallon listed on the trailer section of this forum. will give you an idea of what your taking on.
  11. New Restoration project on the horizon. WW2 liner saw bench, took some recovering. But we’ll worth it, it’s In remarkable condition for its age. Looks at some point it’s had the engine changed. I think this would have been originally fitted out with a JAP engine? Few photos taken during the recovery. Any one with any literature on these little trailers? It would be good to start to collate some information prior to starting the restoration.
  12. Wheels, yes I agree, off a later bike, these have just been stuck on to roll it around. The rest of the bike just looks un messed with, to well constructed to be a custom made affair. I think this because of how the seat interlinks with everything. I’ve looked for a frame number. Can’t see anything without rubbing down. I’m still at a loss.
  13. Help needed, Can anyone identify this bike?
  14. Hi Alec, That’s a good question and one I’ve pondered over. I have seen a few period pictures of the 100 gallon trailer in use, unfortunately all from the rear, so it’s not clear if these were disconnected, I do have manual on the 100, and have very detailed parts list and schematics on how the pipe work is set up, from this I have managed to accurately lay out 90% of the pipe work as it would have been originally. It’s all designed to be stripped down, stowed I think the pipe work hanging under the trailer, is highly likely to get caught and ripped off if the trailer is in transit, you would think this would be removed and stowed away in the transit box. ,
  15. Hi Alec, There is a torsion bar at the front. You can just about make it out on the photo attached.
  16. Good few days progress. Treated all the panels to coat of zinc primer. Then started the slow job of fitting out the frame work.
  17. I managed to sneak a few hours in today finishing the pipe work off on the bowser. Just one of them little jobs I never quite got round to completing. Not the best of photos, as the trailer is bit wedged in.
