Hi all' date='
Recently i bought a round cab hatch for a WW2 British / Canadian vehicle, i'm not sure where it came from but i suspect a Ford F15. I'm looking for some info on the Canvas that goes on it.
Does anyone have some pictures of it?
I'd like to know how it is fixed to the hatch and how it is tightened. The hatch has 3 brackets welded to it which look original.
Any info would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks,
Niek[/quote']
The hatch is for Bedford QL are OY.
Have a look on my QL restoration thread.

What's the size of the black out Ian? I think if the size of the headlight is 6"1/2 it looks to me as it is a civilian bike type black out cover !

Simon,
You can make up the spring loaded connectors from any source of small springs so something from the tail lights might fit if they will fit inside the rear blanking cap. All that you looking to replicate is a means of holding the plug under tension against the slotted holes in the front half of he socket.
Below are some photos form the Electrical Repair Trailer (that came with one these "plug parking sockets" fitted, hopefully give a clearer view?

In 2009 while we were at the MVT camp at Etreham, someone came up with a photo showing the fuel pipelines from Port en Bessin harbour passing a farm in the village. I took the opportunity of a photo of my QL at the same point and the original photo seen here.
Yes Richard we know about the pipeline close to Etreham and by coincident have a picture on the same spot.

Grabbed from today's BBC D_Day special - nice footage of a 10cwt GS trailer behind a jeep with fouled anchor marking - doesn't look as if there's any lighting on the trailer and the T-plate seems to have come off worse in an argument with something

It looks very match like the special service brigade sign (anchor, thompson and wings). Number 58 is from 45 royal marines commando go served under the 1st special service brigade.

Was great to see the truck again Guy, and also yourself of course!
Hope you had a good trip home.
Scott
For sure we had a great time in Normandy, on the Sunday we walked the Commando march again.
The QL in use as troop transporter to the beach for are walk from Hermanville over Pegasus and then to Amfreville.

Looks really good Ian, and now the beach stencils?
My Bedford is almost ready, still have to change the engine oil and some camouflage on one side of the tarpaulin.
The Triumph 3hw had also some service but now I have to find a simple way to get it in to the rear cargo, it is high....:help:

Yes it is Alex, with the MVT.
There's also going to be another K5 just a few miles away, I spoke to Chris Baxter last night & he's going to bring his K5 over to our campsite for some photos.
Ian , my by we can have a ride to Ver-sur-Mer and visit gold beatch living history group camp! From where we are it is not such a long drive.
On the campsite there will hopefully be other lorry's that want to join on are run. Should be a nice picture, a convoy of British trucks.

This Thread hives my good memories, I had to do almost the same work on my QL.
The repairs on the missing chassis parts (rear and cross section), make the cargo body and now I see you also have to repair the rails for the rear cabin hatch.
Very nice project and look out to new post on your OY restoration .
You can still find my postings on this forum about my Bedford QL.
Guy.
