Hello Ian , I am still looking for identification plates for my trailer , there was noting left on the trailer that was readable .

There must gave been a problem with the radiator cooling fan ( broken are came unstuck ) in the past as the duct on the radiator had deep cuts in it and so was the bottom fan shroud.
The duct is repaired and back on the radiator and this section is back on the chassis.
Had a try to weld the bottom cover but it was to bad so made a new bottom fan shroud and the top one was till in good shape.
Now I am looking to put the new petrol tanks back in to place but first I need to make 4 new fitting straps for the petrol tank and tray that go on to the supports on the chassis.
More to follow.

Indeed Richard , it looks like a WOT 6 . :-X

Petrol tank is also on the wrong side, normally you need to see the spare tyre on this side of a QL .Picture must be reversed ?

Congratulations, you picked up some very nice bits this last weekend, this will make a very nice set-up.

Looking great Ron, been thinking what oil tank can be a match for your project.
It is really a square tank on the pictures and the only tank that is also square is the Norton 16H tank but still there will be a lot of modification on this type of tank if you want to make a copy for you Royal.

Hi
I was just reading through this series of postings from a while back an wondered if any more progress was made with the serial numbers?
I have Morris C4 2244 WT 2093 and has assumed the 2244 was a date, obviously this is wrong now by reading the above posts.? What does it mean?
I'm also on the lookout for a parts book if there is one out there?
Am I right in thinking the wireless bodied trucks had an under chassis spare wheel carrier?
What about any documentary materials relating tot he wireless bodies? was there ever a manual?
ever hopeful
Nick
Then we are with two that are looking for more information, mine has chassis number 2202 C4 WT 3357.
As some of the C4 wireless had run flat tyres there was no use for a spare, and if there were normal tyres used you can see on old pictures that the spare tyre was kept on top off the radio box.
On the back you only have a step to go in to the radio box . There was a C4 in a option some time back and the rear was modified for a spare tyre, is this your C4 now.

Radiator in a fresh coat of paint and the front radiator cover also reddy for installation .
But first need to repair the supports for the radiator , these are metal bits with rubber in between. We call it silent blocs to suspend the radiator.
Made a jig for the supports and now these are off for some new rubber vulcanise in between the metal bits.

Hello Nicky.
You are right there are match resemblances on the rear radio equipment for a Morris C4 wireless combination.
The power supply can go trough different power supply's , battery's , extra generator driven by the PTO of the gearbox are by a extra petrol driven generator .
Did some investigation on the extra pto driven generator and it seems that it was a CAV type D5LA-22 and the regulator is CAV type 141/2.
Think this type of dynamo mounted on to the chassis with the bracket you have in your pictures will be difficult to trace but I had a good look on my Bedford QL (ex R) and the screened dynamo is almost the same as the back one on are ws models.
The only difference on the QLR dynamo are the fitting lugs to month it on to the engine and also to swivel the dynamo to tighten the V belt.
The dynamo type on a QLR is ;CAV type DW 7X-8X and this type is perhaps easer to find and take of the mounting lugs and the driving will need some transformation to a flange for the generator drive shaft.
If you come by these bits I am also looking for the extra dynamo, and the switch panel that go's in the back.
On the picture you can see a QLR dynamo.

Here are some measurements.
1- Angle iron horizontal on wooden cross members (L-pofile) 50x50 and 8 mm thick
2-vertical L profile is 45x45 and 5 mm thick . vertical profile is 885 mm long on the sides and the same re-enforcement iron is used under the floor.
3-Wooden cross members 115x 50 x2220 mm long and 4 pieces, front cross member ( just after the spare wheel carrier )
115x50x 2130 mm
All these measurements are in metric size and original it must be Imperial size but these day's the Imperial sizes are not available any more and surely not over here !
Hope that these measurements are off some help, you can always contact me for more information ..

Hi I would like to congratulate you on your restoration I have recently purchased a QLR chassis for restoration which I am planning to convert to a QLD. Would it be possible for you to pass on some measurements that would help me along the way. I would like to know the size of the angle iron used on the rear body and the size of the wooden crossmbers. Thanks Neil
Hello Neil, it is possible to hive you some measurements. Will post some information this evening.

Did myself a bit of research on this trailer today and I personally think it is a Belgian early post war mortar trailer but very match based on British design. Post war Belgian army had a lot of kit that resembles the British kit but then locally made.
