Looking good mate.
Work at the barn has commenced and half of the grain has gone. Haven't spoken to the man yet but as soon as I see him - will have a chat.

Excellent idea Dougy.
Used to be a good site for Mk 1 mainly but it doesn't seem to be kept up to date.
Are you going to include an owners register? If so, put me down.

Welcome back oh tall one.
Good hunting on your shopping trip and don't forget you have my Santa list. ;-)
I expect both you and Vince (dressed as an ELF) down my chimney, roundabout the 25th furnishing WLF parts. I will of course leave the traditional tipple of EP90 and a piece of old, smelly cheese. :-D
Cheers mate.

when i bought the 2nd tank it was with that in mind.
but its to good, so i'm trying to keep them both.
And don't forget they are the only tanks in the south, so to have a tank battle between the two at our show in the summer would be great
Guys.
There is a chap in Higham near Gravesend who has 2 Chieftain's sitting in a pub car park. I've been passed there a few times as it's on my fireground. Was hoping to speak to the owner but didn't want to call unannounced.
Don't suppose it's one of you guys is it?
There is also a Saracen, Diamond T, what looks like an LT44 (anphib type of thing) a Champ and some other bits going from memory.

Brought my multi tool when I was in Bosnia from the Naffi.
Looked at the Leatherman but thought it was a bit flimsy.
Opted for a Gerber instead and the thing has never let me down.
I think the Leatherman is more for light applications where as the Gerber is heavy weight.
Top tool to carry on your belt.

It doesn't sound like it should have been sold at all.
this is an email from a friend of mine Paul Watson who is trying to find out where the tank has gone.
Tank disappeared about a fortnight ago – various tales are abroad including that it's former owner took it back because it was getting wrecked. Had Sheffield Archaeology Service look into it and it was sold by Price Waterhouse Coopers to a collector ? Methinks it's heading for a collection in Kent but no one wants to admit it. The sale was dubious as it was still owned by the relatives of Newton Chambers who hadn't given their permission it seems, so watch this space as Andy and I have opened a city wide can of worms.
This tank has been a landmark and monument in Sheffield for years, and was placed there to remind us of the city's contribution to the war effort.
This should be interesting - Can't be many armoured collections in Kent.
-
Sounds like a must have read.
Jack - You know you wanted to buy everyone on the forum a Christmas present -
Can I have hard back please. :-D
Thanks mate.

I think the above says it all - Nothng more to say on this subject.

Just to follow from my previous thread -
I can't see how bashing people who wear uniforms to complement their vehicles can have a positive effect on our hobby -
I would imagine it would have the reverse effect.
People tend to knock others when they do not understand what and why other people do the things they do.
I think the wearing of uniforms, as long as worn with respect, can only enhance our hobby.
The above includes German uniforms.
IT'S OUR HOBBY AND OUR PASSION - Let everyone associated with it do their own thing - DONT KNOCK IT, or run the risk of ruining it.

Hi all.
I tend to think this subject has been discussed over and over and over, etc.
I have made my thoughts clear in that if people wish to wear uniform to compliment their MV, I have no objections (being an ex-serviceman) as long as their behaviour does not bring the uniform into disrespect. This includes the wearing of both Allied and Axis uniforms.
The only thing that winds me up is when people wear medals and decorations to which they are not entitled to - except when wearing relatives medals at Remembrance parades).
However, I do feel this forum was created for the benefit of those who have an interest in Military vehicles and equipment of all eras, whether vehicle owners or not.
I am not really comfortable with the forum opening a discussion on war, and the resulting effects on soldiers medical conditions. I as much as anyone understand the effects of war on soldiers and civilians and to be honest, although some may find this an interesting topic, it is not one I feel should be posted on this forum.
I am sure there is a forum for discussing these issues but I just don't think the HMVF is the place to do it.
I feel the comments in relation to - especially the dressers up - was not meant in the manor it was written. At least I would hope it wasn't.
People will take offence when such general terminology is used. This is the danger of posting items which I feel not really relevant to my hobby, and such my participation in the HMVF.
Yes the subject should be borne in mind but I would hazard a guess the majority of HMVF members have a very good understanding of what the people who wore the uniforms and the civilians who have experienced the effect of war will have been through.
My thoughts only and I'm not bashing anyone but I do feel the mods did the right thing - to enter into these kind of topical areas can lead to harsh words and misquoted paragraphs, hence threatening the good will and excellent spirit of the forum.

In that case -
I'll wish for a blond with long legs and a passion for green machines.

Oy you lot -
Go do something useful.
If you converted all that brain energy to physical energy - my WLF would be finished by now.
and yes, I am jealous.
-
David when you say 1 set, do you mean I flag or 2 please.
Mark
I want to have 2 sets to enable me to fly the flag on both the WLF and the 432.
Can I presume that is a total of £24.

Sorry - have to put my input in here.
Can't believe some members are coasting their vehicles. :what:
You should NEVER NEVER NEVER coast a vehicle down hill.
This is advised purely on the grounds of safety to you and other road users.
Many vehicles, old HGV (our vehicles) will not build up sufficient air if coasting is employed to gain more speed. Air will not be replaced in the tanks as quickly as the engine will only be in tick over.
Also, vehicle brakes will tend to over heat (brake fade) as the engine is not being used to give added braking to the point when the brakes will have no effect when trying to stop.
Also, excessive speed will have a direct effect on steering - IE the control of the vehicle.
Coasting is an extremely dangerous thing to do and very foolish.

You'd think for that sort of money they could manage to put some lenses on the side lights. :dunno:
Little things like that just say - Can't be bothered - just get rid of it.
