  1. Hi there, running a 6 volt starter on a 12 volt system and for whatever reason the bendix drive gear and pinion has failed. At the least I need a complete drive assembly or NOS starter. Have just spoken to John at Midwest Military in Minnesota and apparently he sold Wildenberg a load a while ago. Midwest have NOS 6 volt starters but shipping may be prohibitive. Better give them a call tommorrow!! Will give Dallas Autos a call tomorrow as well.
  2. Starter is now U/S and the front end drive assembly is beyond help, does anyone know who may have a complete starter drive assembly NOS. My rebiuld guy is unable to get parts for these anymore. Typical having recommended several people to him when I need him he's out of bits!!! Anyone out there got a NOS complete starter for sale if so what price??? Managed to break the oil line from the filter to the block so have had to order a new one from Jeep Parts along with a new oil filter. Does anyone have any reccomendation son what oil to use as I may as well change it!!! Cheers Paul
  3. Hi Jack What our little trip! My photos aren't that good but Clive managed 700+ and an extra flight!!! I'll leave him to tell the story
  4. Just to let you guys know the little airfield tractor isn't a Clarkat it is a Clarktor 6 Mil 44 model. The Clarkat was the smaller three wheeled tug mainly used on aircraft carriers. P.S I have three Clarktors in varying states of completeness. Projects for the furture!!! O.K Clive before you say it I'll be sixty before I have one running!! 8-)
  5. You haven't thanked the burger van operators at Horham for there excellant burgers and there speedy service!! Great to meet you and will hopefully see you at Beltring. One hell of an event 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
  6. I am still having nightmares about Debbie and a certain other party!!! As I am sure is the other party!! I guess whatever floats your boat. Good to meet you all and look forward to another late night drinking session. Lets hope another event such as Bolero is organised in the next year or two. I'll put pressure on Clive when I see him Friday.
  7. Don't forget you host Mr Clive D Stevens and his fan club!!!! I know he has had no internet access for the past four months as he uses mine. Actually that's probably just because it doesn't cost him anything! I'll be there as will various other local HMVF members. Jessie the jeep should be making the long trek down to Suffolk again, having last visited us for Debach open day on 10th June. Some people are keen!! See you all on Thursday or Friday for a few too many drinks. 8-) 8-)
  8. Operation Bolero dance pick up hits Framlingham!! It should be good to replicate the scene of so many villages and towns during the war when GMC's were sent out on the hunt for local women!!! http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t40/pmarriott100/bolero.jpg[/img] I believe the trucks leave the Crown at Framlingham at 7pm to truck the women to Earl Soham hall. See you all there.
  9. Hi Steve Pleased to here you enjoyed the weekend and by the look of it managed to get a few photographs in!!! There were around five hundred plus bods at the dance would you believe. See you at Bolero
  10. Hi Adrian Yes I realised after I posted it that it should be meters!!! Clive was round mine last night and after the post I said I'm sure you have metric and imperial mixed up. Suzanne also says Clive has inches and centimeters mixed up!!!
  11. With only around 500ft of original pereimeter track remaining the best we can hope for is that Uncle Jessie brings his B-17 into land !!!!!!!!!!! :-D :-D Never the less, the site of a flying fortress over the control tower at Parham for the first time since 1981 is a major acheivement-let alone with two P-51 wingmen. All credit to Clive!!!!!!!!
  12. Hi sorry thats a different Paul Marriott. I should have a couple of shots from there RC plane tommorrow and will post them when I get them. It would be a good laugh even if the video taken isn't! I have just spoken to Clive he apologies for his lack of imput lately, but apparently his Talk Talk broadband has been down for several weeks. He now has 65 vehicles booked in for the event. He informs me he has just picked up the last batch of parts from the blasters for the Stuart. So hopefully he will pull his finger out and get the thing moving under it's own power!!!!
  13. If people think it is worth it I have a couple of friends who can record colour video from a radio controlled plane and would probably be able to get some great shots of the convoy on route somewhere. The plane is only a small electric one and as such, can be flown just about anywhere. They also have video googles conectted so what they see is what they record. They have some great shots of Debach control tower and the airfield. Clive, if you have some spare time you could always edit a DVD of the event!!! So let me know your thoughts. 8-)
  14. Here are a few pictures I came across a while ago showing some possible restoration projects if you have deep pockets!!! There are/were in a French scrapyard. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t40/pmarriott100/145_500w.jpg[/img] http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t40/pmarriott100/258_500w.jpg[/img] http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t40/pmarriott100/227_500w.jpg[/img] I have no idea whether these still exist or are for sale and I forget which website had the pictures. Any info welcomed, do they still exist??????????
  15. Clive Would this be a certain Ian Hughes?????????? If so what is he thinking of bringing up????????? Regards Paul
  16. Steve As far as I am aware Chevrolet did produce a short run of turret trainer trucks. I seem to remember seeing a manual for one on that favourite auction site a while back. You sometimes see photos of ten or more Chevrolets lined up on gunnery ranges in the US as well as a few shots in the UK. I agree a turret trainer truck would be a great show stopper. I know a guy who has three Martin 250 CE series top turrets as used in the B-24 and other bombers. Just need time, cash and more cash to bring these projects to completion. Just ask anyone, especially Clive, I have too many projects with no time!!! Regards Paul 8-)
  17. Hi Matt Yes your right that is another truck that is very rare over here. I have only seen a couple of original photos of these while sevring on 8th bases during the war. I'll allow someone else to name it. Not very difficult really with a certain feature!!! Paul
  18. Clive these are the vehicles you need to get on the convoys!!! I wonder how many of these Federal F-1 tractor units have been restored, I certainly have never since a rig complete with Heil bowser. Here are some more USAAF bowser and tractor unit photos. And heres a baby GMC bowser Just for me a picture of how my Cletrac long term restoration may look when I'm sixty!!!! Does anyone know of any Federal or Autocar tractor units out there, either restored or just rusting away in a yard somewhere?
  19. Hi Steve Thanks very much for the advertisment and plug. Pleased you enjoy the event and look forward to seeing you at Debach or Bolero. Or are you doing both events??? Paul 8-)
  20. Hi Steve Well you know me, all the best intentions at heart and all the talk but a distinct lack of time and the cash!!!! What with work, projects, house renovations and Debach there never seems time to sleep let alone restore vehicles. This year will be it I intend to get one Clark finished and the Cletrac engine rebuilt along with the transmission by the end on the year. I have to get one project finished otherwise I will never here the end of it from MR C.D Stevens!! Rumour has it he will finish the Stuart in time for Bolero. I hope Howard has plenty of spare time.
  21. Hi Bob Happy to take ove the New Boy role. I'll go and buy some chequered paint rather than OD and ask for a long stand while I'm at it!!! Regards Paul
  22. Cheers Matt!!!!! I hope you got the email earlier regarding various parts and pictures!! Who knows Matt by the end of the year we may be able to have a WWII Clark tractors owners club!!! At least we have saved them from a certain death. Speak to you soon.
  23. Hi everyone, I have been visting this forum since the begining but only just joined!! More through lack of time, too much work and not enough playtime!! I have been collectting USAAF flying clothing for many years and have always been interestted in millitary vehicles. So you guys want to know what I have, well currently I am mainly collectting scrap. Namely an ex-farm abused Cletrac MG-1, currently under a veru long term restoration as time and funds allow. I also have two wartime Clark 3 ton tractors and a third post war version. All the above are big projects but I am a sucker for purchasing them ratyher than letting the scrapmans torch get them!! Too many historic vehicles have dissappeared over the last decade. So basically no running vehicles, yes Clive before you say it I need to buy a running vehicle capable of moving under it's own steam. The Clertrac has moved using the starter motor, what more do you want!! So in short any leads on Cletrac parts or complete wrecks let me know. Also needed is a Dodge T214 engine for one Clark. Cheers Guys Paul
