Happy Christmas to you all. Looking forward to catching up with some of you at different shows in 2016.

I have obviously been a very good girl this year :-D
I have to ask.....good at what?
Main item I had was a new set of waterproofs, had 'em early as they were desperately needed as it's rained here almost nonstop since the beginning of November, been raining heavily for the last twelve hours and forecast to continue until the early hours of Monday, having a snorkel on the Land Rover has been a godsend. Also got a new Land Rover workshop manual and a variety of useful odds and ends and for some odd reason a variety of comestibles.:???:-D

The motor is now back from the rewinders and is working fine. I had considerable difficulty finding a company willing to do the work at a fair price, their only real interest was in supplying cheap far eastern rubbish that they quite openly admitted would only last for a couple of years. The real mystery about this is that the fault was caused by water ingress although the motor has always been used/stored in a dry environment.

Is there any particular reason why the front wheels are fitted wrong way round?
-
I had one in 1950, it was light grey and hadn't been repainted.

Mikita ?? Is that the fake version of Makita, and generally sold by people touring the country in plain white vans?
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
Sounds about right.....made by the Mikado lot and usually sold by the praty bashers.

You can use any type of antifreeze in your jeep but what you must not do is mix different types, severe damage can result. Having said that the basic blue/green coloured cheapest product will be perfectly adequate for your jeep but don't exceed a 50/50 mix.

I am watching an American car programme on the TV and flicking on to here when the adverts come on, when I flicked back to TV after reading this post the first thing that came on was a Cadillac with burnt out wiring:rofl:
Glass houses and stones come to mind.

The same could be said about Cosrec but everybody is different and you can't please everyone all the time. I think sometimes people write something in a rather abrupt way without realising it.
-
You're welcome, hope you find the vehicle you want.

Might I suggest that you have a look at the GMC CCKW Forum, it is American based but has quite a number of UK members.
Although there is lots of CCKW expertise on HMVF the top 'gurus' reside on there. It is free to join and I am sure you will be welcome there. By all means ask any questions you like on here, I'm sure one of us will be able to answer most queries.

You can reduce the height to about 6' 6" by removing the cargo canvas and bows. NOS is correct, parts availability is much better for banjo axles than for Timken 'split' axles.

According to Bart 352 231"L x 88"W x 108"H, 353 256.25" x 88" x 110". The 352 I used to own returned 10mpg quite easily.

I think he means it's an interesting thread

Presuming its capacitor start - which it usually is for an AC single phase 3HP electric motor have you had the capacitor checked?
Equally there was on older motors a centrifugal switch at the rear of the motor which can stick or has burnt contacts.
Diana
As it runs a compressor it's a capacitor start/capacitor run type and no it has not been checked, there doesn't appear to be a centrifugal switch but as I said previously it will be going to a rewind company as soon as time allows.
So what did he bring you?

Congratulations to you both, that's got to be the best Christmas present.
