  1. Great event last weekend, annual 2 day Forties Festival in Colwyn Bay culminating in a battle reenactment in Eirias Park on Sunday afternoon. To see over 100 photographs and several videos just enter Colwyn Bay Forties Festival into your search engine which will bring up the faceache page (no need to be a member) and click on appropriate links, especially TVConwy who filmed the battle from my Weasel.

  2. There have been several Jeeps recently sold in classic car auctions that have had very dubiious descriptions and similar unconfirmed history, some have lots of non original parts, but the usual auction madness they have sold for far more than actually worth, its always buyer beware at auctions

How true! A fool and his money are soon parted.:D

  3. Best thing for them, useless brutes.

Although I have no particular liking for them, judging by the number in service around the world and the no of copies they have spawned they must have something going for them:D

  4. As far as I am aware, APGA was a prefix for Clayton Dewandre part numbers. Clayton Dewandre now come under the WABCO banner (was Westinghouse Brakes) and they could well recognise this unit and provide parts.

Don't think that CD were ever in the AP group ..... but could be wrong.

As usual Richard you are correct, that will teach me to read the whole thread properly  A quick Google confirmed Bedford did use Clayton Dewandre in the period and also showed a drawing of servo fitted to a Bristol bus which looks pretty much identical to the pictures in the thread.

  5. Steve a further use for pith that has not been mentioned. I can remember as a small boy buying joke "floating worms", probably from the Elisdon's catalogue, to be dropped into someone's drink. These were just a few inches of pith, they certainly floated but did not make very convincing worms.

Hence the term 'catching fish on the float'

  6. Doug, the hood on my weasel is not made to original pattern so I don't know if the hardware is correct. The top front of the windscreen is original and has a series of hooks to accept a rope which is threaded through eyelets on the front overhang of the hood. The hood is then held to the frame crossbars with flat thin metal hooks which are permanently attached to the hood. I have no idea if these are original but I doubt it so unsure if they are made to pattern. As I rarely fit the frame and hood and they are stored away I can't remember how many hooks and their exact positioning . Sorry I can't take pics as my camera is knackered.:angry

  7. Engine parts are still available from Studebaker in the USA except for the items which were specific to the Weasel, water pump for example. Some of the European dealers advertise Weasel parts but I have no idea what they have squirreled away. As you have discovered on the M29C forum the canvas hardware is difficult if not impossible to find, I remember it being discussed previously but don't recall the outcome so suggest you search back through the old threads, it's on there somewhere:)

  8. Strictly speaking Neil illegal of course but I would err towards safety. I used a magnetic beacon on the GMC wired into the tail light circuit and never had a problem with the police. Another way of doing it would be to fit smalL LED units, they are programmable for flashing pattern and quite low cost. We use them on large tipping and plant trailers and also on JCB's.

  9. Bonjour Sherman M4A4

    Comment est votre projet?

Peut-être pourrions-nous aider les uns les autres pour échanger des pièces, peut-être nous avons quelque chose qui pourrait être intéressant pour vous, et peut-être que vous avez des pièces que nous pourrions utiliser :)

    Tum juel, Sherman.dk

I realise you are new to the forum but all posts are supposed to be in the English language.

  10. Spot on Clive I totally agree with you on all counts. I particularly dislike the rank rating, the only people entitled to rank are those that earned it in the armed forces.
