  1. Just thought of something. Early set ups used the glass lenses that screwed into the body part (sorry, forgot what it's called). I'm not sure which way the later lenses fitted.
  2. Yes this may be stupid but an eBay seller is selling the above mentioned and it has the 2.5 screw on fitting. Does this fit the standard army Landrover/Bedford screw fitting. I would have said yes but I need it confirmed before I buy them. Photos attached Help appreciated. George
  3. Informed of another local paint maker, Alpha Paints of South Shields. Recommended by classic car owner.
  4. My 1970 jeep is for sale. It has a full MOT and NO advisories. it is free historic tax. The classic car insurance is pretty cheap too! The details are, this 24 volt military spec CJ5 Kaiser jeep built in 1970 and exported to Switzerland for their armed forces. When released from service, it was bought by a Netherlands military vehicle dealer before ownership in the U.K. I have fitted electric wipers but I have kept the vacuum wipers if you want to keep it original. I have fitted new fuel gauge, a new oil pressure gauge and sender unit, new plugs and all the electrics have been checked over by a qualified auto sparky and mechanic. It has a full winter canvas set, five very good NDT tyres, two new batteries and serviced. The side curtains were replaced with a John and Mary W set and the old set are included with the spares coming with the jeep. The jeep also has the sought after vented windscreen, basically, an inner opening windscreen like the original MB/GPW jeeps. The jeep had an agreed insurance value last year of £8500 and lots has been done since then. I have reduced the price for a quick sale. A fair price for this jeep is £7500 but I am Open to reasonable offers. I would consider swapping for a Vauxhall Viraro Combi van or the Renault/Nissan versions. Please e-mail or call mobile 07716694255 after six. Thanks, George
  5. It gets even better! Albany Motors, Camrex chugoku and hopefully Morrell too! As a Washington lad I'll check out Camrex, Morrell and Albany Motors and take it from there. If my jeep doesn't sell in the next few weeks the paint pot comes out. Nothing wrong with the paint work but olive drab does it for me! Anyone wanna buy my jeep ?
  6. No it isn't Tor paints. Tanfield Lea rings a bell. Albany Motors is a good idea. I used to go there years ago to collect parts and I saw the old owners military police jeep. Also a lad there was assembling a jeep tub on a wooden template on the floor. They also had a SWB armoured car up on a ramp. It was ww2 era but that's all I know about it. They just might have some paint lying about. Thanks for that. George
  7. It was 2007, yes a life time ago! It was definitely Stanley area, another old MVT/HMVF member used to get his paint there too. Yes I know, I should have asked the name of the company. ***t happens.
  8. Hi and thanks for the info. I knew about Marcus but this company is very close to me (or was) and I could get a same day order. Also they were very good on prices. George
  9. Hi. A few years ago I could get large aerosols and pots of olive drab paint from a company based near Stanley County Durham. An old friend used to get it for me but i never knew the name of the company. Before you ask, the old friend isn't about anymore so I can't ask him. Anyone know this company? Thanks, George

The details are, this 24 volt military spec CJ5 Kaiser jeep built in 1970 and exported to Switzerland for their armed forces. This is not a M38A1 or a M606 jeep. 13. Checked out other sites with the alternative numbers and the parts are advertised but not in stock. The cost of these parts is horrendous.
  14. My 24 volt CJ5 jeep requires a Bosch distributor cap, serial number 1235522071. Cash waiting. Thanks, George
  15. 2nd attempt, tablet crashed! Hi Steve It appears the whole ignition system is failing and I now need a replacement Bosch distributor cap. Serial number 1235522071. I've see a couple for sale for real silly money and I'm sure I could replace the whole ignition system for that price. If anyone has one at a decent price the money is waiting here for you. My Auto sparky can only come over when he isn't at his day job so that can delay progress too. I want to get another Landrover but that will have to wait until I can this thing fixed and sold. Like I've said to you before Steve, if you want the job it's yours as I know you have more time to "play."
  16. I managed to get a correct used coil for £20 and it works. Also the "wrong" number coil was tested and that worked fine too. But you have to have a slightly longer connection.
  17. Managed to get a good 2nd hand coil for a very good price.
  18. Another good contact! Cheers mate, will try to call them tomorrow! George
  19. Thanks for that Clive, I understood some of what you said but then you got technical 😀 I see they have it for sale in the Bedford trucks section too. Would that make it compatible with my CJ5 jeep which is wired up the same as a M38A1? Has anyone used on of these coils before?
  20. If only they had some left! At that price they sold out pretty quickly! They buy a lot of ex Army stuff which works well for me. They have another Bosch 24v coil for sale, some light rust pitting from bad previous storage for £30. It is the Bosch 24v coil, serial number 0221108003. Again, these are ex army stock and the owner Diane has the NATO stock numbers. Does anyone know the spec difference between the Bosch 0221112002 and the 0221108003 coils and would it affect its long term use?
  21. Hi Nick. Clive Elliott found a supplier of the Bosch coil for me at a very good price. As these Bosch parts are already in place, I'm going to try stick with them for now. I'm trying to keep the costs down for now as I've spent a hell of a lot of cash buying parts from the USA and here. If and when I have to, I'll look at M38A1 parts. George
  22. Hi Clive. Thanks a lot for that, some price difference! I've mailed them and will call them tomorrow. Thanks again, George
