  1. Cheers Colin that is a great help! Jack. PS I will PM you instructions of how to put up a tent.......fair skills swap!
  2. Ok, so that collar has now got to be 'pulled'? I don't understand why rivets are in the mix, you have the facing plate, then rubber then the collar then rubber then the pulley all held together by very lose rivets.............does that make sense :?
  3. Hi Kewelde There was about an inch of play in the pulley but the only way that the pulley was attach was by rivits, that went from the pulley to the facing plate. Is the bit that is left have the keyway in it? As I can not see one?
  4. .................Ashley, we best keep that amongst ourselves  To right about Colins Reo, we should of put him at the back, then anyone who got lost could then just follow the smoke until they caught up with the convoy. Sorry I wasn't there for the breakfast but next year is the year! ......what time did you get to bed?
  5. Hi Andy. I no someone on here will have the answer for you as I am too, interested in marking my GMC up in British markings but they will still have to have the 5 pointed star on them. Welcome aboard Andy, tell us more about yourself! cheers Jack.

    1940's

Hello Madeleine, Nice to hear from you! I am Bridie, Jacks daughter and i have just recently turned 15. I have also just got in to the whole dressing up thing, and i am glad to here from another girl like minded! But after my dad has just bought a military veichle, we have been going to all these events too, so i am also thinking about dressing up 40's style. Do you have any theme i could go as because i dont have a clue?! Well if you get whisled my hunky army GI's im game!!!!! count me in! Nice hearing from you! And hope to meet you soon! Bridie ~x~
  11. Have been trying to remove my pulley as the woodruff keys is worn and there is slack in the pulley and is 'knocking'. The pulley would not slide off the crankend at all, no matter how much you pushed and pulled. In the end part of the pulley broke so I decided that I would have to cut it off. The problem I have is that the pulley was sitting behind, I repeat, behind the flange How the hell I am going to replace the pulley. I have left the pictures in 'large' format so you can see the problem.
  12. Here are some pictures from yesterdays meet.............. This weekend is being hosted by Pete and his good lady Rita, fellow Dorset MVT members. They live in the New Forest and what a beautiful place to live. This was the first meeting of its kind and Peter is wanting it to be an annual event, and so it should, judging by the turn out yesterday there is a great deal of commitment from MV owners and a great deal of commitment from the host as the facilities and the locations were faultless...........and it looks like the Game Pie may soon earn the title of a legend. It was the first outing for Colins Reo which he had just bought over from Norway. Colin was running it on old engine oil!! I am quite confident that we will see a few more Reo's in Dorset and beyond as they are extremely affordable..........so that is another one to add to my list! Kevin had just come back from Arneham and has bolted a few more items of kit to his Dodge! Colin 2 drove down from Portsmouth with his good lady in his Jeep, unfortunately Colin lost his exhaust on the M27 somewhere so if you find it could you kindly post it back to Colin. It is always nice meeting Colin as he always has great bits of kit which is great as it helps to keep the kids quite........whilst they aren't repairing their MV's   We could only make it for the day as I have to get on with my GMC as it has to be ready for remembrance day and I am running out of time! But the highlight was again the road run. A two and half hour run road throughout the beautiful New Forest, what a sight to see 17 MV's in convoy travelling the ancient lanes of the forest, you have to remember that many thousands of men were billeted throughout the forest pre D-Day, so again you don't have to think to hard to see the past, the forest just hasn't changed. The convoy was headed up by the Stalwart with a crew of ten.....children! Pete Blackman was doing the sterling job of bring up the rear in his WC. When we got to the pub I did say that I would buy a drink for anyone who's vehicle wasn't breaking down, didn't have a knock or wasn't leaking oil......so that was a cheap round then   At the end of the day, the way this group works is wonderful, 'anyone and everyone is welcome and welcome to everyone' seems to be the motto. Until next time, roger over and out. Colin's Reo, running on engine oil Barry and his V8 Fordson On convoy.... In the Dodge our driver and co driver, Kev and Jenny Stalwart heading up Lanes of the Forest and Colins Jeep Eliza The pub stop and the pit stop Thanks to Jack, the unoffical events photographer.......who now needs a new camera as he stuffed it yesterday
  13. Lloyd believes that Sundays are for pondering  so here is a Sunday ponder; I am not sure on this but I think I am safe in saying that there must be many thousands of WW2 MV’s over on mainland Europe. When these were released from the relevant countries, where did they all go? I know a great deal were sold to the dealers and then sold on to third parties, did they then go in to the hands of private collectors who understood and realised the importance of this rolling history and just new that they had to be preserved? I would imagine a great deal were put to work in a commercial sense, or were they? If you owned a modern business would you really want 50 year old technology that is slow and expensive to run? I know I wouldn’t. So the questions are; How many of these MV’s are just standing around on mainland Europe, deteriorating by the day? Are there any in the old Eastern block countries? Were they scrapped after the war? Are we doing enough to rescue and preserve these vehicles? Because we know that there are ‘thousands’ out there are we being rather short sighted and lacking vision by being complacent enough to think ‘ they will always be there so no worries someone will rescue them’ ………….isn’t this the same thought disease that we had with our aircraft? Is it just mainly US vehicles left over on the continent? Surely it is our duty to rescue and restore as many vehicles as we can, to ensure that future generations know and understand this vital part of our history. I am not saying that we all have to own more than one vehicle, what I am saying is that it is our responsibility to inspire and encourage as many people as we can to join the cause. Aren’t we all just history teachers?
  14. I wonder if Lloyd (M8 Greyhound) could help out with a bit of that? 8)
  15. A member of Dorset MVT is having his annual private get together at his farm so we are off over there tomorrow, minus the GMC but there will be a 30 mile road run so I will a passenger and kiddies will be crew members. Have a good weekend everyone and don't forget to take your camera. Cheers jack.

    Chads........

When I have finished painting the GMC I am going to put a Chad or two on it, as I adore them and I haven't seen one since I was a lad. Now if I was to keep this Chad contemporary then I should the following........ "Wot, no fuel?" and "Wot, no money?" - restoring an MV!
  17. No worries, it takes a bit of practise  if you scroll down a bit further on photobucket you will see a 'Rotate Picture' feature that will rotate your image. Any problems then just ask. Cheers Jack.
  18. That is pretty amazing, can't quite comprehend that amount of destruction. Good to see you back Steve! Jack.

    QUIET

Nat, What is your new job? 8)
  20. So long can you run a vehicle without additives before it starts to damage the engine?
  21. To me owning an MV is all about owning and preserving a piece of serious world history and it is our responsibility to share this history and to pass the knowledge to all of those who are interest and in some cases to those who aren't. We most certainly have to pass this on to children, they will be the ones who keep the torch burning. So this is what I would like to do. To take the GMC to shows and each time I attend a show I would wear a different uniform from a different country, and yes, that would also include a German uniform. Shock horror, I know that for some this would be disgusting and un welcomed... But why would it be? Just because I own a GMC does it mean that I am restricted to what I wear?
  22. Ok, second idea I have had today  How about a buyers guide section? What to look for and what not to buy. I will be looking for a WC52 next year that I can bring on so it would be useful to me to start with. Going to take a break now has I have thought to much this morning already :?
