I now hate any colour green, it is keeping me a wake at night     So operation rub down is looking good, gone down to bear metal in most places.... Do I have to put primer on first? How long do I have to leave it before applying the top cost? Can I use the top coat as the case coat? How long does the top coat take to dry? Does he 'G' in GMC stand for Green?
  4. arrh yes, the pulley............it is still attached to the crankshaft  ordered a set of pulleys mid week but they haven't turned up yet

There you go Matt and thanks for the idea
  7. Well, you will pleased to know that I have nothing to report   only that the rubbing down is driving me nuts! But one good thing is that you get to know every square inch of you vehicle in a very short period of time. It looks like I have found some white letters on the far right panel of the tailgate and they are on the last layer or two of paint, so this has got me rather excited.
  8. Got through to the Blind Date finals

    WW2 Airfields

Does anyone have any 'operational' pictures of what control towers looked like on inside as I always walk into these places trying to imagine what room was used for what, but never really knowing for sure!

I like the sound of that Matt.
  14. As you can see there are a lot of us here who are interested in WW2 airfields. This is something that also appeals to me and we do our best to visit them where we can. As you know, nines times out of ten it is just usually the control towers that are left. The last one we went to was the control tower at Ibsley in the New Forest. If any of you like to get the lost in the history of these places then you will find no better site than the link below; http://worldwar2airfields.fotopic.net/ The owner is Shaun Churchill, he is based just minutes from my office  and to me, he is playing a very important role in recording all of these ghost airfields. I hope his work inspires you to trace some of his footsteps. Have fun. Jack.

    RR Services...

Just wanted to let you know that I called around 4-5 paint suppliers last week with not much luck. In this morning post there were 8 paint samples, painted on little sheets of tin. This was sent to me by Kerry at RR Services http://www.rrservices.co.uk/index2.html . I just wanted to say a big thank you to those guys as the service was most excellent and no prizes for guessing who I will be buying the paint from. Service is king when it comes to business and unfortunately it is something that the majority of UK business's lack so it is refreshing to come across a company that cares! Anyway my next problem, is what colour to choose!

  17. Blimey Oddball.......Anne is just starting to learn how to use one ..............I am going to restrict her to 3 hours a night on HMVF  "its a beautiful bridge"
  18. Hi Pete. Thanks for the intro! I have had 9 landies in my time, from a S11 to a V8 Range Rover. My favourate one was a S111 109. Our 110 county also had a V8 lump but it had the added bonus of a Janspeed turbo bolted to it  .............now that was fun and nearly as quick as my GMC  Good to have you hear. Jack.
  19. Do any of you belong to any MV group's? If so which ones? I am a MVT member and I will also be a IMPS member in the not to distant future.
  20. Sorry guys..........the good lady will be about but she justing isn't having much luck in getting on here as either my daughter or myself are on here
  21. Thanks chaps that has confirmed that I have been missing it all. I would imagine that these places effect you in a certain way that you can not quite describe but tp the people who have already been there. Karoshi looks like we need to talk. Do you feel that your vehicles are going 'home' when you go to Normandy or is that a stupid question?
  22. Would like to publically welcome Karoshi to the over 100 club..........posts that is, glad someone else could make it, I was getting rather lonely in here  ........pull up a leather chair mate, I have lit the fire and I will go and get us a couple Scotch on the rocks
  23. Blimey Steve that looks good............I will have a good look later, just on the blower at the moment  Thanks for the heads up
  24. Going to book my first holiday for next year. My good lady and I have never had a holiday.  ...ever so next year we are going to take the GMC and the family and make our way over to Normandy for June the 6th. On of the things that I have always regretted in not doing and that was not making the 60th D-Day last year. We were close to making it this year but circumstances would not allow, so next year will be the year. So who hass been, what is it like, what should we expect and what is the best way forward in planning the trip i.e. accommodation, ferries etc etc. Any help would be very much appreciated! Cheers Jack.
  25. Good work, thanks Lloyd. I may have one or two
