Welcome. More British vehicles! Bring 'em on! :-D
-
Its got to be more comfortable than the lightweight I used to have, especially on frosty mornings :shake:

For the gaskets, John Walker 0115 9607860, you may find it easier to get hold of him in the evenings. ;-)

At last the money that has been burning a hole in my pocket has burnt through and down my trouser leg! Not quite as old as I would like vehicle-wise, but Im working on that! Landrover ambulance with papers, unregistered as yet, but it shouldnt be a problem. Needs outriggers and a few other bits and pieces and a general tidy up. But it was as cheap as chips, and seemed to good to miss.

Now I know its difficult to say from the pics of these, would would you say they look like an economical restoration? How prone are the chassis to rotting? What problems are common with these "overseas" vehicles, in short, if I were to consider buying one of those, what advice would you give?

That engine and gearbox look in fine fettle! We need bigger pics though please! I would be interested to see where and how the radiator is mounted, I cant imagine it would get much cooling action. The truck gets hot enough even after a few minutes, it would have been like driving an oven surrounded by the metal plate.

As John said, John Walker has a complete engine set of gaskets. Although it doesnt include sump gasket. Fuel pumps pop up on ebay on a regular basis, when I can suss out the part number I will let you know. You will need to make up the gaskets for the water jacket plate and sump. Use card and plenty of sealant for the water jacket covers! PM me your address and I will send you my spare carb, ( on the basis you may be able to help me out one day ;-)). Where in the UK are you based?

Can anyone suggest or recommend a person or company to assist in the pick up of a vehicle from York and one from Lincs to North Bucks for possibly end of next week?

I will never complin about changing tyres ever again! :-o

The Channel Islands are often overlooked as an outpost of the UK that was occupied during WW2. I went there many years ago, and there is probably more standing there than anywhere else. The Mirus Gun Battery disguises as a bungalow always stuck in my mind. You can still go there and explore the underground complex, at the bottom of some allotments! If I got this right copy the link. I will dig out some photos at some point

I cant believe where you are finding all this stuff from Mike, thats what I need an entry level hedge find! ;-)

Joking apart, you should report it to the rozzers. Get a cheap camera from one of the DIY stores to catch 'em out.

Newton Longville near Milton Keynes Festival of Transport. Boxes to rummage in and a few MV's.
Bletchley Park on Monday. Forties family weekend. Big Bands, re-enactors and MV's. Will post some pics if I can get away from unpacking boxes due to recent house move.

If you feel like you've taken too much on and/or the missus is worried you cant afford your mortgage, let me know and I'll be glad to take the LRV off your hands! :-D

Welcome Mark,
I hope you have bought your bucket and spade and egg sandwiches

Am waiting for a photo to be emailed to me from its current owner. Apparently its an unusual variant, one of only 6 made, its a recovery truck at present, but it seems to be going for a good price. When i get pics I will post them, i dont think I will go for it as it may be too big for me, Im looking for something a little smaller as the new vehicle!

Considering the purchase of a Guy Quad Ant just to satisfy my urges. Has anyone had any experiences of these? What are they like to drive, availability of parts, dimensions, weight etc.
