Much better in sand! I need a stencil or something for the ambulance, its got a load of what seem to be weight markings on the doors, any ideas?

Aha! What do you need to know, list them and I'll get back to you. Is this a "proper quad"? Or a later one? 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder? If its the 4 cylinder I can probably help, but I dont have the handbook for the 6 cylinder.
The tappet adjustments should be on small plates on the valve cover on the side of the engine. As for a gearbox, i know someone who has one , I can have words when he gets back off his hols, but I would be surprised if it does need a box, Ive never heard of a box going in one, clutch yes, box no.
Post a couple of pics if you get a chance. You cant really go wrong on these engines, if you are doing any internal engine work I would suggest getting a gasket set first, depends what work you are doing.

Just to add to this thread ( quiet spell at work!), I have been looking at this, and agree that, yes, the germans did designate them with a KFz number. The Morris was a popular choice for a personnel body carrier conversion, or, "umbauwagen". So much so, that they had a standard body which fitted on the back.

Just a couple of suggestions that have been churning aroun in my head for a while for a couple of new sections to this here website.
FAQ section
I reckon there is a need for a Frequently Asked Question place on here for questions that always seem to be asked, especially by "new blood"...
How do i get a photo uploaded on here, or, how do I register a vehicle with the DVLA, what are the laws on owning DEACs etc.
there are probably a fair few more I could think of, but I think if we had an area for questions that most of us ask when we first get an MV or first join this site , you could direct new members to it and keep down the same questions that keep recurring, in turn therefore, making the site easier to navigate. (phew!)
Next thing.
Members gallery
A place where members get to post a pic of their pride and joy(s), so everyone can have a quick nose at their vehicles all under one roof. maybe do it as a gallery for ease of use, but allowing the pics to be enlarged when clicked on.
There was something but its been a very long day! :computerterror:

Welcome! Another Bedford owner, if we're not careful they will outnumber the Morris owners! (At least its British!)

Always exciting when you get a new member of the family! You have to do a before and after photo though! i used to have a lightweight, very bouncy, especially over speed bumps. There was a time when it went down to a local 4x4 course, I was pulling out an SJ410 which was almost vertical when the gearstick snapped off at the base. Not good news. Fond memories off hammering a screwdriver into the gearchange base just so I could use 1st and 2nd gear to get back to the workshop. Ahhh Landrovers...so versatile, still took me about 1/2 an hour to drive 3 miles back home though!

yes....sssshhhhh.....dont tell anyone tho!!

Thanks Andy, thats great. Just what I needed to know. I think Kyle on here has just bought one as well as he was looking for transport for it.

Can anyone point me to the direction of any info on a DKW Munga. I may have the oppurtunity of another purchase, (Im sure my other half will be very impressed...on the other hand she may just give me "that" look and roll her eyes.). I dont know anything about these, looks like a fun little thing that you could use everyday, but whats the availability on parts, prices etc. What would a sorted Munga fetch? What would be a bargain price for one of these? Are they rotboxes that need constant welding?
Any info gratefully received. 8-)

I was actually going to get in touch with you Rex about these for a costing on parts that someone would need to get this one sorted. It all seems fairly complete apart from all the panels, but the frame doesnt look too bad. Probably a bit beyond my reach at the moment though, although it did seem like a good price, and I think he is open to offers. They are both based near Leicester I think.
Has he got anything else for sale?

I have been in contact with this bloke, he emailed me some more pics, and yes they are the ones on Milweb! I will post the pics in a while. I was tempted by the one which was priced slightly higher as it has all the id plates etc inside the hull and was in a better state than the cheaper one.

Hi Simon, glad you are here, not much action on mine at the minute due to being too busy at work! Just had the front mudwings made by a company in Manchester- not cheap! And sourced a NOS radiator surround with mesh for a good price! Will post pics when I get them. If you know anyone who needs a Landrover Ambulance let me know!

Would be good to see a couple of pics of yours, especially the body youve got! (The truck body that is!). Im sure Ive seen exterior pics of this, if I get time I'll have a look again.

Im on there now, and as suspected I am out in the middle of nowhere, being at least 50 miles away from anyone else!

Thats the great thing about this place. As well as taking the P** out of people as well!

£500 including transport from York...howz that grab ya! :-D

Hi, Ian,
Its not very nimble to say the least! It originally got sold by P A Blanchard when it got demobbed. I see they have one up for sale there at £2950 + VAT. I didnt pay anything like that, so if I can sell it in the future at somewhere near there I shall be more than happy. :-D

Thanks for the leads, especially landroverorphanage. Im trying to find the pair of blue lights which fit in the bumper if anyones watching! Also drivers/owners manual on cd. I need to do a bit of dash rewiring and theres a few knobs which are unknown to me, and I cant find the blue flashy light button for the roof!
Landrover paint schemes
in British Vehicles
Posted
The ambulance is in desperate need of a lick of paint So Im seeking advice as to what the colour/colour scheme it should have. Its had 3 layers of paint applied to it. The bottom coat appears to be the deep gloss green, the middle layer is green and black matt camo, the topcoat is a very pale green. Its been with the 1st Royal Anglian Regt from 1979 to demob in 2000. I was going to put it back to the green and black camo with markings to match. Is this green and black a specific colour? How can I find out what unit markings it had and where to put them? Anyone got any photos of a S3 ambulance in camo markings? :?
