I recently purchased some new pannier brackets for my m20 but they seem too short can any one on here tell me the distance between the mounting points on thier bike as I need to check mine are correct before asking for a refund

just drained the oil out of the gearbox on my b40 and suddenly realised that although the army manual says how much to put in it does not say what grade of oil,can any one out there help?

there was an excellent article on US forces bikes in windscreen a few editions back and it stated that although they occasionally tun up in France it is a very rare occurence,that wont stop me looking though

I have just added a matchless g3l to my fleet ,it has been standing for around 20 years and is in need of some tlc although is near enough complete and a couple of hours prep had it running what I am looking for is either good books or a website giving details advice etc ,hopefully along the lines of Henk Joores excellent m20 site and also a good reliable parts source .Any help would be much appreciated

not just hmvf screwed up but I tried logging onto the ww2 reenacting forum only to find I got redirected to a list of sites telling me why I should convert to islam,probably give that one a miss

I am going now looking for m20 parts as usual and a repro bd blouse for a trip to Normandy next year and a leather jerkin and some don r gloves and an american m1 helmet .....and loads of other things too numerous to mention
must get a lottery ticket the day before

Chris, check MOT regs. The age of the bike it might well be exempt things like reflectors.
I think you may be right about the reflector but the bike should have a brake light and numberplate light as it is registered after 1936 but you may find some mot testers will say a reflector is required ,standards do vary,I had no problem getting mot without reflector but my local station is classic vehicle friendly

From memory I have seen at least one 7w barrage baloon winch truck and one royal navy marked e83w and like everybody else says dont look a gift horse in the mouth get the truck and worry what you are going to do with it later on ,someone is going to want it even it turns out to be fit for spares only it may help keep another on the road

thanks for that Chris I measured mine and they were 275mm centre to centre and the new brackets were 263mm centre to centre so I contacted the supplier who measured a set he has in stock and is under the impression they have been made too short so has asked me to supply a drawing with dimensions to allow him to correct this error so we shall see what happens .The strange thing he said he has sold approx 40 pairs and never had a complaint yet
