got to agree with Darren on that one as I was on the very next Normandy flight out of Jersey and as he told me after he got off that pilot knew exactly what everyone wanted ,it is hard to appreciate the sheer area covered by the mulberry harbour at Arromanches the true scale of the American cemetry or the terrifying open space of Omaha until you have seen them from 1800 feet up so if you can get up in a dak before it is too late do it you will not regret it

  2. I have booked a special Normandy flight from Jersey on sunday the 11th for myself and my father £110 each but never going to get the opportunity again and it will be great to see the landing beaches etc from above especially from a dakota I think this will be the only way to understand the full scale of the American cemetry above Omaha and really understand how exposed those on the beach really were, just got to pray for clear skies now

  3. went to dallas on sunday and good to meet woa2 and Nick Johns again but there did not seem to be as much gear for sale this time ,was it just me that thought this or did anyone else notice? maybe it was just the fact that I was later arriving this time ,still always next time to find those bargains

  4. I think what is happening with military books is the same thing as happened a few years ago with classic car books basically the same information rewritten in a different order this was bought home to me a few years ago when I visited a journalist friend of mine only to find him surrounded by books about porshe speedsters he was using bits from each book to caption a series of photos he had been sent to produce a glossy coffee table type book when he freely admitted he knew next to nothing about the subject but it helped pay the bills

  5. not a bad turn out for a first event ,about 30 odd stalls mainly selling militaria with a few vehicle parts thrown in ,bought a 1942 dated colt holster in really nice condition to complete a pistol belt set and some 1944 dated wirecutters prices were reasonable and the coffee was hot but as there was no motorcycle parts I shall simply have to go to Dallas Dig Out next weekend now(oh bu**er!!)
