  1. this is the exterior look I want to achieve on my striker . I have noticed they have cut away the flat plate the runs along the angled section of the armour.also does it look like its been dieseled if not what is the side box on the side of the hull under were the petrol exhaust is. does anyone know what those mesh baskets are of that are on both sides of the hull .     Spoke to dvla policy today and to be fair the guy was very helpfull . His response was that DFT 's opinion was it didnt meet C&U . He has gone back to then asking how they have come to that decision and under what classification can he register it . Dvla also reported it to the police and I have since had a visit by Manpad terroist unit and I am awaiting an interview from special branch . Will just add this is only because of my close proximity to MCR airport. I have had to show deac certs and they have spoken to Mr P at Witams for verification . will keep you posted on outcome
  3. Yes first time i have used a scaler . Good for thick paint but it is time consuming .

    Hi Steve . What is avoluntary certificate of compliance is there a reference number for this cert . I own a MOT station and cant find anything on it. The whole system is a farse . if you import a vehicle it needs an IVA unless its over 10 years . My Hummer H1 is a 2000 and I am waiting until xmas to register it as its a bitch to IVA although at xmas 2000 its actually 11 years old dvla say it could have been built on 29/12/2000 yet it has a manufactures build plate they are not interested in . This industry really needs to get there top people onto this As I have seen the dvla change there rules to suit 2 years ago . When importing a vehicle with over 8 seats regulations stated you didnt need SVA . The limousine Industry used this to register limousines. Vosa didnt like limos so complained to the DFT . The Limousine association didnt fight it thinking they wouldnt pass it . Guess what they did . So OK we changed the way we registered and SVA'd them . They didnt like that so they introduced to guidelines in SVA that ONLY applied to Limos Stress analysis needed . Not even Major Manufactures have to produce this when building a new vehicle . THe DVLA/VOSA/DFT will ride rough shot over you if you let them . I am now on a committee for the limousine association and we consult with DFT on all changes . we Have even been on meetings at westminster house with them . I am not saying things are great but they do listen .

    Finaly got my letter from DVLA , It states they cannot register the stormer as it MAY not meet C&U . It also states that MAY have been a mistake made registering previous MV's they have included the persons Name and Number at policy who are dealing with it . I have not yet had a return call from Terry at the MVT . will give until end of weekend and chase again . First I asume they have to use the C&U regs that were in place at the year the vehicle was built . second I dont know of any C&U test . Will DVLA have to start doing there own made up C&U test.
  7. On a normal auto gear box you check oil level while vehicle is running after running through the gears . Is this also the case for CVRT gearbox thanks
  8. Anyone had much experiance with the best primer to use when painting the alloy hull . seen that people using red oxide ? does that last or best with alley etch any recomendations

  10. Should get my new tracked rapier this week . Read an interesting story on internet that said back in 91 the mod bought back some tracked rapiers from private collectors for Gulf use. does anyone know if there was any truth in the story .

    Been trying to register a cvrt stormer Thats within width at the manchester DVLA for the past 6 weeks . Anyway finally they are saying you can no longer register ANY tracked military vehicles . The answer I got from the manager was someone in the Manchester area has been trying to register a fv432 with no luck due to width ,they have kicked up such a fuss they have looked into it and they have made a mistake registering all tracked vehicles . I am awaiting a letter from DVLA with the contact details of the person at dvla policy who has made this decision . I want to challenge this decision with the support of the MVT "which I am a member" But would like to know who is the best person to contact. Although this dosent affect already registered vehicles it does affect any new vehicles to be registered and want to sort this before an internal memo is sent out to all dvla offices.
  14. Took my H test the other day with terry brooks It was taken on the road . tested as you would if it was your car test , emergency stop/3 point turn etc. Terry brooks was very helpful and the whole day was very informative and good fun would highly recommend terry brooks for your test. Dan

  19. need to know the spanner size for the oil pipes on the cvrt gearbox . I dont seem to have this one . Looks like 1"3/8 but would like to verify before I buy as need 2 one long and one short . all the main pipes look to be same size. thanks dan
  20. I am wanting to replicate the striker in this picture . the louvered box on all sides with the black arrow does anyone know anything about it . I think I know what its used for but would like dimensions or better pics so I can make replicas . cheers Danny
  21. I have a stormer in Batus colours . I was going to change it to the usual but every one that sees it says its the best colour . so I may keep it Batus but give it a fresh coat as there are a few bad spots . not sure though what is the correct colours my guess is sand and olive drab . or is it nato green ??
  22. I have tried registering a stormer . I am now on my second visit from dvla its also been sent to the dft . I think they dont want to register it but are struggling for an excuse . I also want to register a 434 . are there any width excemtions for recovery vehicles
