  4. I am just in the process of purchasing a lovely early 1944 Matador artillery tractor and I will be after a bit of advise from you knowledgeable lot on here. Its in pretty good shape with its original body but no hood sticks or roof. Would anyone happen to have any sticks lying around that they may want to sell or at least one I could borrow for a pattern. Also how could I find out if the vehicle originally had a full canvas roof or a tin roof? Was there any rhyme or reason to what had what. Also do any members live in the Yorkshire/Lancashire/Cumbria area that have a Matador with original body with sticks I could come and look at. Does anyone know where I can get a canvas hood made if I go down that route. Thanks in advance, im sure that when I get the beast back home I will have a few more questions. Cheers Dan
  5. This was my old girl the day i sold her, I really really wish i had not had to sell her. I was very hard up at the time and there was no other option. it was the most useful vehicle I have ever owned. If i ever find another for good one for not too much money, i will buy it in a flash.

  9. Hello, Im Dan. I have always had an interest in old vehicles, especially Military vehicles. I spent a lot of my youth at Aston Down auctions in the early 90s wishing I had £5500 to buy a MK3 militant recovery and used to love clambering over the stuff going through. I saw many a MK1 militant going through as well. Those were the days. I have a real passion for anything AEC. I have owned various vehicle, Lots of Land Rover (mostly series 1s) some military, An LR 101 GS, 1956 Bedford RL AFS pipe carrier with 560 miles on it (paid £210 for it!!!!), a 1967 Mandator, A 1973 Mammoth Major 6 Ex RAF refueler, 1978 Mammoth Major 8, 1971 MK 3 Militant Recovery 87ET73 (wish I had not sold it). I have always wanted a Matador (I know its predictable) and am just waiting for the right one to find me. The Day job is Fleet Engineer for West Coast Railway Co.
