  1. turret monster the teeth simulate a mine plow as "russian/opfor have at least 1 vehicle in 4 toner yes and no sometimes we get to close and out comes the directing staff with a god gun and kills a few of us off the god gun is part of the tes kit which is just quasar on a big scale timbo yep under the pipe is the barrell with a bolt drilled through it to hold the pipe on will try to get up to date pics when i return this year also in 2007 they were sending both salamanders and sturgeons back for deiselisation not sure whether that happend or not
  2. ok ROBIN well a zap no is individual to each vehicle and in case of an accident when you radio personnel zaps you also send vehicle this alerts zero higher as to how many cas to be expectid and vehicle replacement whereas a c/s can be swapped about regularly such as when i was a junior cpl and jnr c/s when my troop ldr broke down he would take my vehicle to continue with the battle and i would fix his wagon for him (acasionaly fixing it just in time for him as he had broke mine) also different units/formations use different c/s for the same type of vehicle such as close recce (tanks/inf units) and formation recce(9/12l qdg ld qrl and hcav) hope that answers your question

  11. well 2 things really 1 in hohne germany they certanly still have them or did 3 years ago when i was still posted there as on a sunday morning they would test it (and the wifes patince as well:mad:) that was in bergan town no2 was the air raid siren was still in the gaurdroom at robertson barracks (was raf swanton morley) on a panic button on the floor under the main desk i remember numerous gaurd commanders not knowing it was there and shouting at us troopers to "turn that bloody thing off you funny f$&£ers:D) as he was standing on it also it took a little time to wind up and down good times
  12. A few 16/5 guys transferd to 9/12L after options for change(not wanting to be tanks) they told an inpressioable young trooper(me) that they only had scimitars in iraq as germany based as they were at the time only had them but the legend i was told was they contacted t62s with 30mm and it was bouncing off luckily 2 scorpians from the qdg used 76mm hesh and drove off leaving the 16/5 emmbarassed as a 76mm gunner 3rd to last intake to fire no traing rounds for us it was live hesh all the way:-D i can atest to its power the old chieftan had a few holes in it from us (we went to have a look at night on range guard when our inst was asleep in the tower at warcop)as i say the gulf tale may be an exageration as we young NIGS got told all that sort of stuff usualy at a smoker:cool2:
  13. qrl remained an armoured regt up till 2003 i think then reroled back to recce. sabre was rejected by the rac only inf recce platoons used them when we 9/12l were the last ever training regt the inf platoon in lulworth had 3 and warriors. we had 13 scimitars and 3 strikers. The light dragoons used scimitars in bosnia as did we

  21. ferrets a no no as i liked working on them when they were ssm vehicle but long haired genral will not go for it if i had the money then cvrt all the way and my father in law who used to be reme rac airbourne would take over a ferret and really to much work what with fluid drive wheels etc i think you ferret guys are brave:nut: nuts but brave and my most enduring memory of ferrets is driving past them when broke down they pushed more reme vehicles than any other around the ex areas
