Thanks for the Help everybody I think I have most of the stuff you've said, although what equipment would a regular soldier have with him on a regular Patrol?
Thanks again Jak
CEFO and no doubts a NI Patrol Pack :-)

Forgot to mention that LG-280 has been obsolete for some time.
The specified grease is XG-279
Isn't LG the abreviation for Lithium Grease????
-
Wayne that is correct.
We were talking yesterday about correctly administering oil in the Tracta housings not grease.
The hubs are to be packed with grease on assembly and topped up with oil. In accordance with Special Servicing Instruction No.7 which was an amendment in 1973 to the original Servicing Schedule that stated oil only.
Ahhhh. My mistake and perhaps I should have read more and not just clocked the image and then words Grease......
Thank you as always for clearing this matter up, as it would identify an EMER amendment that others may not be aware of...
Every day is indeed a school day :-)

There is a set of books Vol 1 - 4 "THE BRITISH ARMY IN ULSTER" by the author David Barzilay, and they cover the period 1969 - 1981 and give a good bit of information.
Great read and lots on vehicles and militia too.
Bit of an eye opener to civis in England at that time........
Very enlightening on the tools of war etc.....

A must have tool to replace the oil seals as the hubs are oil filled not grease........ All FV1600 series owners should have one on the shelf.......
Thanks to Clive for pointing these details out.

Hi,
Do not know anything about the function or usage of these items, but the Mai 1944 VW82 parts book has this diagram for a supressed vehicle, and definitely shows the same arrangement of RF Filter Unit (item 2) and Ballast Restors (2x item 3) as per the Horch photograph .
My limited understanding is that these three "boxes" are standard for most small vehicles, hope it helps.
cheers Paul
Those images have a scarily likeness to the EMERS we refer to. Why?
????!!

It's been a while and apologies for not contributing more...... Home and work life prohibitive to say the least.
Wanted to wish everyone a great year and need to see a postman soon to sort some long delayed goods despatched to Neil
Best wishes to All.

It is with a huge lump in my heart that I must sell off and dispose of the lightweight.
After many hours and pounds getting her sorted, albeit slowly I need to raise some funds after my separation from Mrs.
If anyone has any items they need for a lightweight then please send me a message.
The tilt, bulkhead and vent panel were scrapped, but I have pretty much a complete vehicle, including that replacement chassis that has the axles back on etc.
Anyone interested then give me a shout. Quite a few parts are already either rubbed down, cleaned, blasted, epoxy primed and painted, so in a good place for a new home.
I wanted to keep the unitary radio set up though, as hope to buy another lightweight in the future. The Arctic heater stuff is all available though.
I had to decide between Piggy, Toastie and Lighty and the Lighty is the casualty of this war.......:cry::cry::cry::mad::mad::mad:
Isn't life grand!

You will be twice as quick after doing one already.......
Good Luck buddy.....I'll make the tea and give you and hand. :-D

Great images and thanks for sharing

DEPROMA is miles better as a paint and greater variety of base colours.........
I think it's better value also and does spray well without special thinners, just using white spirit.
Worth consideration and noted in other threads via search function
Ferrets without wings as used in Aden ?? Will it upset the purists !!
