Welcome to the club Andy and well done on your purchase of gods own AFV, one careful owner!
I can vouch for the quality of chris' mudguard brackets, top notch..
Pm me if you wish to come for a visit anytime to have a look at my sabre (04 FD 34!). I am currently replacing the engine so happy to give you a guided tour of what to watch for if you like.
Cheers
Tim
Hi Tim,
I might take you up on that offer it would make good sense to have a look see on things that I shouldn't do
-
Ok, that makes sense.. The front track guards are sheet metal backing with rubber flaps. Sounds like one is pushed into the track. I do a good line in laser cut replacements!
Thanks I'll speak to you at some point about collecting some off you
-
Andy,
If you get the history card from Bovington and the Merlin history, I'll translate it for you!
Hi Peter
Thanks its appreciated

Hi Andy,
Welcome to the club! Is it a damper link arm rubbing on the track?
Chris
When we had a look it seemed to coming from somewhere near the front right sprocket behind the mudflap. It looked to be a piece of metal that had been crushed when the vehicle has been pushed at some point (it looked rusty as well). I didn't really have chance to look properly as I was supposed to be in Manchester city centre (horrible place).

Thanks to Rick as well for the help I had to get him out off his pit to help me this morning

I have been thinking about buying a tracked vehicle for awhile ever since I drove Ricks (eddy8mens) carrier. The bug bit pretty deep especially when I had it spinning in the mud spraying mud all over the place at War and Peace in 2011.
In the last tender I had a punt on a CET and a CVRT Sultan which didn't pan out such is life.... Last week I had another punt on a CVRT Sabre at Withams which I won for my top price that I was prepared to pay.
Said Sabre arrived this morning
The horrible clanking noise is a piece of metal rubbing on the tracks
Its a project that I plan on doing very little too until I have finished a Ferret and sold it. I have the hatches for the turret and the rear door thats missing thanks to a tip from a member on here plus the bins that are missing.
I'm pretty chuffed I must admit
-
I've seen that Ferret before in person, the top plate that would normally be bolted down for the turret ring is welded on. If I said Minis would that correspond??
Good video by the way

andy why dont you use hand throttle to fast idle ferret?
It has to be fitted in the first place
-
Thumbs up for doing it is it driving yet??
-
Tried pumping acc and no choke started well.
Voltage when running 28V.
Hope it starts well Thursday as Ferret in ANZAC parade.
Must admit I don't start my Ferret with choke I tend to use the choke after its started as way of fast idling the engine to warm it up quicker. Not right but hey ho it works

Plugs, points, condenser, fuel tap and fuel pump. I would do the basics first as already mentioned as loss of power could be down to the condenser breaking down under load.
Fuel constriction through the pipes leading from the tank to the change over tap could also be an issue. Try switching the tap over and have you changed its position at any time in the recent past?
Food for thought

I have a few of these tools and as they came with CES for armoured vehicles like Centurion I suspect that might be where the answer could be found

Great pictures thanks for posting

Without touching on politics it would all depend on where you were living if you thought RIP or something else. I'm pretty much ambivalent to her passing but I do feel for the family.
-
Not going to disagree but the info comes from someone on this forum who still serves with the army
-
Clansman is still in service for the 2nd line operations pending funding for Bowman

That track must be heavy if it need all those lads to pull it about
