Hi All,
Talking about Longmoor, why were these locomotives called "Longmoor"??
It's a WD type steam locomotive, shipped over to Europe, at the end of war, and used in Holland for some time, and ended up in the Dutch main railway museum in Utrecht.
Cheers,
Lex

Stanier 8F's 2-8-0 were also used on the continent during the 2nd World War. Two came back from that region quite recently http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMS_Stanier_Class_8F
ROD 2-8-0 Locomotives were used during the 1st World War for the same reasons http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GCR_Class_8K
R A Riddles also designed the post war steam locomotives for British Rail the 9F being a particular favourite of mine

Close. I have images of 82585 and 82587. These can be seen at http://ramtank.ca/ferret.htm
Its last unit is shown as the 12e Regiment Blinde du Canada (12th Canadian Armoured Regt) but irreverently known as 12 Rubber Boot Coy.

The SUN even got their weapons consultant Andy McNab to appraise the capabilities of the triangular flapjack - he doesn't see it as a front line SAS weapon anytime soon
So its a chemical weapon then

School grub must be bad if they thought it was a better idea to use it as a frisbee

Presuming the Daily Mail article is correct and is quoting the judge correctly (its a big assumption that) his TA service is being used against him in that he would have known what was or wasn't deactivated.
If the judge is saying that the proof house marks cannot be trusted then thats a problem that affects everyone.
Really this should go to appeal as some of the evidence that the judge has based his judgement on is iffy to say the least. It could also be said that the defendant has been poorly advised into pleading guilty when he could have found his own expert witness to disprove the crowns evidence. Lack of money maybe or lack of knowledge?

Well lads, I have heard they are making another dads army. With a WOMAN playing the role of Captain Mannering .
Now we know the country is In state with lots of issues, but this would be pushing the populous of our shores too far.
i for one, would don my tin hat, Zulu spear , and sandwiches and march on Westminster. ( if it wasn't raining of course ).
But I wonder... Does it mean they can't say "they don't like it up 'em" anymore ?
Noooooooo thats so wrong leave it alone

right it states on show info that exhibiters not to leave show ground between 9 and 630 pm due to one way system ? guess i am leaving show ground sat evening or sun morning then!!:undecided: its really the organisers fault why after a public 5 day show and for exhibiters possibly longer , combined with a location that could hardly be called central! would you not close the show on sunday at say 330 pm and charge visitors a tenner for entrance on sunday, that would keep everyone happy ,and reduced entrance fee would be made up by increased numbers thru gates as 18.50 quid to get in for one day i think is bloody expensive!
Because Saturday and Sunday should be the day when they recuperate the most money off the paying punters the fact that the exhibitors want to leave early well..... I can't see how they could stop people leaving early

Hi all.
I,ve just joined the forum as we are in the process of renovating a MK2 ferret. I have had an interest in military vehicles since doing my apprentiship in the eighties working on light tanks & scout cars etc, so when the ferret came along it was like a step back in time for me. The ferret we are working on is almost complete. We have had it stripped down to the bare hull & shotblasted. Then we have been overhauling the parts as we go along and refitting them. We have been quite lucky as most of the parts have been servicable, so they just needed a clean up & lick of paint. The suspension was a bit of a pig though, most of the pins were siezed solid and needed a lot of heat & pressing to get out, but they came out in the end and were re-usable. One thing we do need is a temperature sender or thermobulb as I think is the correct term, so if anyone knows where I could get one it would be great to hear from you.
Cheers.
Welcome to the club :-) Banisters is the place to buy the thermo bulb from
