  1. I counted 347 before I realised I was doing something wrong!!
  2. Promotion, well done Matt; that probably brings a Pay Rise with it too!! Steve
  3. Nobody ever answered my question about the forum PM's. When I send a PM, it often stays in the OUTBOX for over an hour, before finally moving to the sent items box. Do PM's automatically get checked, sent & delivered every hour or is it more random from the time you press 'Send' to the time they actually get delivered? Or am I just impatient!!! Steve
  4. On Behalf of Wifey, Lynne, I'll answer for her. For dances etc, she wears a WAC uniform. When it's colder she has WASP flying gear. Steve
  5. I know, just teasing!!! I have an early Hotchkiss myself, but there are a good number of Willys parts on it, including a September '44 engine as I found out recently. That doesn't make it a Willys of course, just a mix like virtually all other jeeps on the road. I'm wondering how many MB's and GPW's are out there running with the majority of their original parts? Anyway Cara, how did you get into the MV scene? It was ill health that pushed me into a hobby change. Steve
  6. I'm not sure you'll find any Willys that are 'Original' vehicles!!!!  Steve
  7. and the Iraq Super Gun diameter?? Was that measured in Yards? and the length in Furlongs?
  8. I'm not sure about the Army, but the bombers would certainly bring back a large number of empty cases which needed to be cleaned out after a mission. What happened to them after that I don't know. Crashed airframes from both sides were recycled. Steve
  9. So it isn't 50 cal = 50 Calories per bullet? I've often wondered it it refered to the rounds diameter, or the bore size, and also how tight the tolerances are between the two? Steve
  10. That's almost overseas!!! Successful trip?
  11. Hello Cara Nice to have you here. My wifey hasn't got time to sit and play on forums ( not with all the washing, cooking and cleaning etc!!!!!!! Ooops! ) but she does get involved and come along to all the events! Here she is with our Jeep at Pickering in October '05 Steve
  12. A picture of about 600 pixels wide is a good compromise on size. Steve
  13. Here it is........ http://www.hmvf.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=98 Steve
  14. You can't "upload" pictures to this forum, you need a picture host like Photobucket or Pix8 to host your pictures. You then link to them using the [img=http://www.yourhost.com/yourpicture] There is a thread somewhere on this forum that explains it a little better. Steve
  15. Welcome, you'll have fun here. Got any pics of your jeep to share?? Steve
  16. Have been doing a little more cleaning & painting recently. I just did an oil change and took the opportunity to remove and repaint the housing while it was empty. While I was working, I found the original Willys engine block number, MB 465 640, which as I mentioned by 'CRIPP' in another thread, places it Mid September '44. It also has a casting date of 8-18, presumably also '44. Steve
  17. Just had a quick look. I can make out 8-18, so that makes it 18th August, but I can't see the rest of the number until I get the jeep out of the garage. Steve
  18. Thanks, next time I have the jeep out, I'll crawl underneath and see what I can find. Steve
  19. Does anybody know what happened to all the original Willys tooling for the MB Jeep after Hotchkiss finished with them?? Do any of the current manufacturers of jeep replacement parts use the original tooling, or did they have to make new tools to produce the new build parts? The reason I'm asking is that you can get hold of pretty much anything from a jeep. Between all the current replacement parts manufactures, is there a complete set of tools for to manufacture the whole vehicle? or are we still relying on a percentage of parts being reconditioned? Steve
  20. Don't bother with a single side arm Jack, I find that an arm on both sides helps with steering and gear changes! Just a thought! Steve
  21. Thanks for that. It's nice to know another small piece of the puzzle. Is there any other information that can be uncovered from this engine number? Here's the engine bay as it was when first purchased... and again, after a little TLC Steve
  22. Thanks, looking forwards to hearing about anything you can find. Steve
