  1. I can rectify this by swapping the tyres diagonally, my question is what is the maximum size difference side to side if there is one?? I can't find anything in the manual..

Also it says on the tyres that they are regroovable, any one had experience of this on this type of tyre??

    Lee,

These Michelin tyres are not a special AFV tyre. They are normal truck tyres with a Hutchinson runflat insert, therefore the "regroovable" wording on the walls refers to their normal application. The problem with regrooving is that it does not alter the circumference, so you are back to the same problem.

Cheers for that Richard, the reason I was thinking of having them re-cut is to make them a bit more legal until I can find some replacements, I do the diagonal swap as soon as I get the Fox back from the Gunpowder Mills..

  2. At the moment the tyres (XCL's) on my back of my Fox are very worn & smaller than the fronts & are well outside the 2" circumference limit, I can rectify this by swapping the tyres diagonally, my question is what is the maximum size difference side to side if there is one?? I can't find anything in the manual..

  3. Mark,

Thanks for that... Lee has offered to rope us off an area in the Americas field, so we will be on one of the main drags in there if that works out.

    Cheers,

    Hi Chris,

just got back from Beltring, the W&P lowloader just picked up the Saladin, Ferret & MOBAT. the first vehicles on site for this years show :-) as John has no brakes on the Saladin at the moment we had to go down to unload it..

Can you email me that vehicle/tentage list again..

  4. Jack,

John Tucker (FV601) & myself have recently taken over the running of the North Thames Imps web site that has been dormant for the past few years, we hope to have it up & running within a month & have no problem putting a link to this Forum on the site.

  5. Lee,

Where did you get the seals from? I've asked Richard Banister, but am going to see if they are standard commercial items before buying.

    Chris

Got everything from Richard, I think the seals were £6 each, 4 per caliper, I think the dust covers were the same price too..

  6. The Fox was booked in, but the brakes locked on and caught fire on Wednesday and we couldn't rebuild them in time.

    Chris,

how did that happen? my Fox brakes kept locking on when I first got it, I knew about this when I bought it & was caused by the previous owner putting brake fluid in it causing all the rubbers to swell, had to replace everything, master cylinder, servo, brake lines & caliper seals.. one of the caliper pistons was blue due to the heat & took a couple of hours to get out.

Perhaps you could use an exclusion on personal cover which limits your exposure but enables me to call you out (hope not to of course) for different vehicles at different times - eg: cannot call out for vehicle B within x days of making a call out on vehicle A???? This might allow us to get there and back to a show with vehicle A (knowing we were covered for that trip) then break down while at the next show in vehicle B?

That's not much good to those of us that take multiple vehicles to the same show..I take at least two sometimes three & a piece artillery to a show..
