  1.

    Great Stuff Mark. :tup::

    Paul if you search here you can get his service record, its not for free but cheep. http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/explore/defence/service-records/army-wwii.aspx#section1

    If the kit bag was with him threw out his army life and he was deployed overseas then it becomes an item of interest that could be displayed along with were its been and how you got the information.

    Good Luck

    Thanks for that. Ordered a copy of the records. Just got to wait and see what's in it now.

  2. I got this via E-Bay, I think the seller lived in surrey. I had to meet him in a car park to pick up the tent. I only have a local phone book. No Tweney's in there.

  3. The question now is were did you get it, or how did you get it,and were 9 Div in the middle east prior to his being discharged. did he return to Kent? and what are you going to to with it?

    I bought a WWII US pup tent a couple of years ago. When I picked it up from the seller it was in that bag. He said it was his dad's and had been in the shed for years. He was just clearing out, I presume his dad had died. I told him to let me know if he found anything else but I never heard from him again.

    I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Probably keep it unless it's going to make me rich.:-D

    Brilliant information Shakey,:clap: all I was expecting was someone to say "it's British" or something.

  4. Thanks for posting up that link Paul . Rarely watch morning tv so I didn't see that today , most enjoyable (apart from the fatuous presenters) and well done to the participants .

    Don't know about you but I find the constant references to Dads Army whenever something of this nature comes up a little tiresome .

    I knew the BBC were filming there in the evening but didn't know what it was for. Lucky Burley spotted it.

    Dad's army references do get a bit long in the tooth, but it's better than nothing I suppose.

  5. I, along with everyone else had a great weekend. The venue is great, and there's so much going on around the site. Met up with plenty of people and great weather as well.

    I took a load of pics and you've seen most from the others posted but here's a few.

    The Blitz ball Saturday night was great, I took a 74 year old along and he said he hasn't had a night out as good as that for about 30 years. Also saw Heliops working the magic on the dance floor.:-D

    Mrs Weazle came and said hello and I didn't have a clue who she was. :embarrassed: Good disguise. Didn't they look smart though.

    I'm not big on the dressing up usually but I do make a bit of an effort for this one and I think the majority do as well, and in my opinion it's better for it. The amount of people on the vehicle parade route was amazing. Excellent and I can't wait till next year.
