  1. Found this link, tons of period pictures. Dont know if its been posted before. Just keep scrolling down and down and down, 3 pages, mainly US stuff, fantastic! http://www.com-central.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=6510&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=christie&start=0
  2. This is a great little project, I love model making stuff, especially when its military. :-)
  3. I watched it on evilbay, looks like a great Jeep, congrats.:cool2:
  4. umph that chassis damage certainly is terminal!
  5. Thanks Chris. I tried Jeeparts and Dallas but they dont have them. I will try screwfix, no problem to drop some weld in the top. I think they used different sizes on various parts of the chassis. I need them for the crossmember and engine mounts but not sure what the size is, most likely will have to get the closest metric size. Presumably they would need to be high tensile as well. Colt
  6. Hi Folks, I need to do some chassis repairs and put some new rivets on. I dont fancy messing with 'real' rivets and heating etc. does anyone know if the shear type rivets that tighten like a bolt are available in the UK? Cheers Colt
  7. This sounds fantastic, I must find this movie!
  8. Simple...use what the MOD use. I bought 3 tins of NATO Green IRR direct - http://www.beckers-bic.com/BIC/bicweb.nsf/key/home
  9. Thanks loggydriver for the link to the galv company, someone else had mentioned Wedge to me. Karl, I did have tons of small bits in my garage for several years but finally sold most to others building wolf reps. The rarest part I had but sold were Commando roof bars. Cheers Colt
  10. Looks just like mine did in 2003 Carl...fond and frustrating rebuild memories flooding back. Let me know if you find somewhere, I have a Wolf chassis I want galvanised too. Colt
  11. Welcome Chris, good to have you here.
  12. Welcome Joe, good choice of hobbies you have there I recently bought a Stuart Turner Beam engine. Colt
  13. Hey Guys, Just doing the rounds to insure my Landy and Jeep and Footman James were well priced. Thanks for the recommendation from this forum! When asking about being able to buy back the salvage after a crash they said its only possible with Cat C and D damage only. Is this the norm? I understand of course the wider reasoning behind putting damaged/dangerous vehicles on the road etc. but MV's are different...most are rebuilt from scratch at some point anyway. Just curious on others views and what you have opted for on your policies. Thanks Colt
  14. Lovely job, I've heard they arent an easy restoration and can be difficult to get watertight.
  15. Nice work and posting, good to see a different vehicle being restored. Is the top speed of hummers restricted?
  16. I'm in South Oxfordshire, between Maidenhead and Reading. Some good responses guys thanks. Colt
  17. Thanks Guys, Very interesting, I hadnt anticipated such a strong 'for' argument for Imperial. I did buy a set of imperial ring spanners today so its a step in the right direction. Could someone post or pm some suppliers if possible so I can do some costings. Cheers Colt
  18. Hey Folks, Do you guys keep imperial or go to metric (where feasible) on your WW2 rebuilds? I now have my 42 Jeep project and I usually swap nuts and bolts on my projects for stainless steel where strength isnt a concern. As I am all tooled up for metric I plan on swapping most to this but will avoid the blue nylocs. I know many die hards will keep imperial which is cool, just curious to see what most are doing these days. Colt
  19. Great! Thanks for sharing, I've read a few books on this and its still confusing, useful image. Colt
  20. Thanks guys. Can I extend this slightly and also ask...... Are most of you guys buying Original/NOS where available or Repro parts? Is there a view that repro shouldnt be the way to go? I can talk all day about Land Rover parts but Jeep stuff is all new to me. Are repro parts 'shunned' in Jeep world? :nono: Just conscious they are historical vehicles etc. Thankyou Colt
  21. Some good feedback thanks. Jeeparts was the main one I found but no prices on their catalogue. Presumably Tony is old school with no website? Dallas autos is in Newbury which is clos(ish) good advice on nearest dealer, will try an internet trawl. Colt
