  1. Yes, undo the crossmember bolts and slide it bacwards as far as it will go.This gives you enough room to pull the gearbox. Last time I changed a gearbox on mine it was done in three hours from start to finish. cheers from Bjørn.
  2. This hobby sure keeps me out of trouble! And all I have to do when the wife is acting up,is to remind her that I can usually be found in or around the garage. And you are right about all the good people you meet through this hobby, they are great! Cheers from sunny Norway. Bjørn.
  3. Started out 0600 this morning to go pick up my ben hur trailer, drove 300 km. there and back and got to meet some kids restoring a WC62 and a WC52. And they where doing a great job at that. Got home for lunch and drove of in the civy car to get new springs to fit to my WC52. Got home 2300, and I am still exited. What a great hobby this is!
  4. Another one from the ETO. Italy.
  5. Here is one from the 35infantry div. eto. Bjørn.
  6. Hi, I was there and had a great five days. Nice people, interesting vehichles. Lots of armour and even some aircraft overhead. The perfect holiday! Thanks to everyone organizing and participating. Bjørn.
  7. Hello, it has the original 270 gm engine. I have not driven it for more than a few hours at a time, but I can see no problems in taking a long trip. Let me know if you want it and I will get an export license. Cheers, Bjørn

  8. The tyres are starmaxx 9.00x16.00. Made in turkey. I put them on the dodge yesterday, but have not tested them offroad yet.A few pictures.
  9. I think the sugested method of undoing the bolts a little and inflating the tube again is probably the fastest safest way of doing it.And the rim is not tight fitting when cleaned up,it is the rust thats holding it back.Anyway, good luck.Bjørn
  10. Pictures of my combat wheels. As you can see I cut the rubber of one of the rims.It is all coming along nicely, and I expect to be back on the road shortly.Have a nice spring.Bjørn
  11. Hi, I have just split four dodge wheels. The two of them I had a mate split at a tyre shop (a good option),and the last two I split myself. Both of them where like superglued to the rims. One had gone soft in the sidewalls,so I cut around the rim with a knife and a malet. The other I used a prying bar,big screwdriver, tyre iron and lots of time to pry out of the rubber. If you have the time, just do it.But stop before you try to inflate it without the nuts.Thinking that is a "good idea). Good luck. Bjørn
  12. Hi all, I am changing tires on my dodge this spring. And after wrestling with and actually having to cut a tire from the wheel today I felt like relaxing by reading a bit here.As always good tips and threads to read.I was lucky enough to be given(for a bottle of spirits) some dodge and gmc wheels the other day,and the funny thing was. That when I split one of the wheels,I found it to be in very good condition. And that is after lying at the edge of a field for about ten years! The ones I have had on the dodge require ALOT of clanup/rust removal. Will post more soon on the progress. And finally just have to post a picture of the good old gmc used to collect the new tires. Cheers Bjørn
  13. Yes I do belive that is a chevrolet, dual wheels and all. There is a big locker at the side of the vehichle, maybe signal corps or engineers? Very interesting truck, havent seen many of those on the road. Bjørn
  14. Hi,try to contact this man in Denmark,He has gearbox and cover for sale. Please post pictures of your carryall sometime.E-mail: knudnielsen@mail.dk Greetings from Norway,Bjørn.

  15. Hi abn deuce, found these pictures in a book.Sorry about the poor quality. It is Italy, maybe the same bridge from another angle? Bjørn
  16. Yes joris you are so right, but I was reffering to the two first pictures wich show two different dodge WC51`s:-D Bjørn
  17. Since I am driving on both main roads and backroads in the woods,I think it makes for better driving on good road with chains only in front,Also the engine does not have to work hard all the time.So it steers great on ice and if I need traction,I just engage the 4x4.I think the dodge WC handels great on the slippery stuff, you just feel by the seat of your pants when its going to slide and therefore have time to brace yourself. As for the fur lined seats bodge, they are reindeer skins and it makes a difference when it drops below the frezing point.
  18. Yes they are both WC51`s,but the cargo bodystyle is from 1942/43.After that they changed them just a little. Not sure how to explain, but if you see the two different rear`s side by side you will see the difference. Bjørn
  19. Was out driving today and snapped these pictures. The dodge is happy when driving on snowy back roads,It just feels so right.I have of course got the usual Norwegian ad.ons, wich includes a heater.A very usefull bit of kit!Enjoy .Bjørn
  20. The dodge on the first picture was driven there last year, and from the rear body looks like a 42/43 model. All I know of the other two is what we can see.And this is southern Norway, imagine what its like up north.
  21. Yeah,I heard the owner of these trucks had about twentyeight vehichles! So would I given half a chance!
  22. He he ,looks like you could use some chains.I have actually only used chains on the front, allthough I have got complete chains for both vehichles.I can actually get thru pretty deep new snow, but of course everything depends on the condition of the snow.(I use chains on the middel rear axel on the cckw, safty first!).
  23. Here is two dodges and one cckw a came across a little while ago.I have tried to get in touch with the owner, but as one of his friends told me "the lights are on,but there is nobody home".I will try to rescue these in time.
  24. Hello bodge, has your dodge been to Norway? The tires looks Norwegian.I saw a similarly bodied dodge for sale last year,is the body a norwegian conversion or was this done in the UK or US?
